Yeah I know what you mean ... it will also be better with him getting more freedom and all that

Certainly. There is a lot of difference between 14 and 22 and not much difference at all between 21 and 29,

Do you have big plans to ring in the new year? I'm having some friends over but it won't be a wild party. We'll share memories of our past, swap lies about the present, and wish each other well for the future.

I had my family friends and some others over had a nice pot roast dinner and we are all playing Xbox now just having fun good times but nothing wild

How did your night turn out?

It sounds like you had a fun night. My evening was about the same... nothing wild. It was a good time though. I grilled out some burgers and later we had some snacks. Nobody partied too hearty though we had more than our fair share of spirits. My last guest didn't leave until 3:30 lol. His daughter came and got him. He wasn't drunk but could see no good reason to drive after drinking for hours. I'm still trying to wake up.

I was once a night owl. I suspect I would not average much over 20 hours of sleep a week when I was your age. There was always something much more exciting going on than sleeping. Now I best be finding something to keep me occupied or I'll fall asleep lol.

I am the same way but I have sleep anxiety so I sometimes take things to make me go to

I've never taken anything to help me sleep. For that matter, I've never taken anything to keep me up. Now that I think about it... I don't take anything for anything lol. I hate medicine of all types. I'm sure there are some dandy products for this and that... just not my thing.

My wife on the other hand has something for everything and is happy about it. My children turned to her for all of their medical needs while growing up. Me telling them to shake it off wasn't nearly as good as mother's love and meds. As adults they pretty much mirror their mother.... often ill and medicated.

Man I would love to go through the day with not needing meds but I think on pain meds for problems with my back but have no other problems... Besides the thoughts in my head lol

I'm lucky... I know. If I was in need, I'm sure I would indulge. (knocking on wood) So far I've been able to make it without any meds... and I like it that way. My wife and two of my children are diabetic and med dependent. I feel sorry for them... that's tough. I'm sorry you have back pains too. I had a great fall when I was eighteen and broke my back. They told me that without surgery I'd be in a wheel chair by the time I was thirty. So far they were wrong. :) I've never taken meds for my back but have suffered through the years. So, I know something about back pain lol. But, I rarely suffer like I imagine some do... so I have no complaints. I lean to the left a lot lol.. but hey... we all have our faults.

Yeah but we all gotta do what we gotta do and I know about the diabetes my mom has it and RA so she is a walking talking pharmacy lol

My wife has one of those doughnut looking pill containers that has a little container for each day of the week. She loads it up each weekend and she has her daily regiment labeled and organized for the week... sheesh. But, it helps her keep track of what she's taken and when. I don't envy her at all.

I keep my regiment in a little fridge here in the office. A couple of tall ones from it nightly keeps me going. :)

I stepped into the convenient world of using a DVR yesterday. I've had one for years on the tv in the great room... where I never watch tv, but I got one for the office. I don't watch much programing except for sports. I'm pretty much a junkie.
Anyway, far too often there are two games on at the same time. Especially during the football playoffs and college basketball overlap. And then there is always the game when I have to work. In any event.. justifiable or not, I graced myself with one of these marvelous toys. Talk about ease of use.. wow. I suspect you all know all about it. But living in a house full of girls... I've done my own thing in the office here forever and have missed out on the fun.

I couldn't live without my dvr :)

I'm very quickly feeling the same. I think what I like most is the ability to tell it to record all new episodes of "whatever" and it's a done deal. I will admit to watching the pawn stars and ameircan pickers. It seems I never know when a new show is on. I turn over and yep.. I've seen that one.. dang. Now.. I just open my list of recordings and decide what new show I'm going to watch. I don't know how I've managed life without it.

I love mine. Though I have a ton of stuff on it that I want to watch and can't find time to. :(

Hey Rawlings.. good to see ya.

I can see how stuff will build up in there... and why this service brags of more storage than that service. So far I've managed to keep mine fairly clean. It's too bad they won't let you port something off you want to keep forever to a dvd or external drive. That would be ideal.

Mine has a usb slot, must admit though. I've never tried plugging anything in to it though

Hmmm, interesting. Mine has a usb and the three a/v audio phono jacks in front. They are inputs though. Never tried the usb port but have used the a/v for a wii or something similar. Haven't looked at the back plane to see what might be possible for outputs.

There has to be some way to get files from dvr to a flash drive or something similar

One can always hope. I saved the Kansas NCAA tournament win a few years back on the dvr in the great room. A year or so later I had a desire to watch it again. GONE. My daughter says.. oh, I need the space. :(
I had it marked to never erase. That doesn't matter much to a teen.
Now if I could have slid that off for safe keeping.. I'd still have it today.

You could probably download it.

But yea, I know what you mean. I have multi-room dvr which gives me more space, and the recordings are accessible from every TV. But I still run out of space every now and then. I plum (try) watch too many shows.

I just got an extra hd channel pack for 8 bucks a month. 5 new channels, my favorite being the smithsonian hd channel. Mgm hd, universal hd and a couple others are nice but I LOVE smithsonian channel. Would have paid only for that one.

Destination America is awesome also (already had it but just discovered it) and I'm getting re-hooked on travel channel. Man vs food, Anthony Bourdain, hotel impossible

There is a lot to watch... no doubt. That smithsonian sounds interesting. I like shows that expand my knowledge. I rarely watch new movies.. but I like the old ones. I do a lot history, learning, science, etc shows. And, I'll admit to being a sports junkie. Love football, ncaa basketball, and baseball but will watch other sports if nothing else is on. I won't watch bowling or golf. I was an avid participant of both but they bore me to tears to watch.

Never tried it, but I would imagine being able to offload shows from the dvr would raise some piracy issues. Would be nice, though.
