Droid X a good replacement for Ipod Touch?

I've had the same phone for a few years now. A crappy flip phone from ATT.

I also use an Ipod touch for my music needs.

I was wondering what the music playback quality is like for the Droid X. I have the Bose On-Ear Headphones, and they sound amazing on my Ipod. If anybody has the same Headphones, and the Droid X, I would welcome your input more, but everyone else is welcome as well.

Please get back to me. This is the only thing keeping me from making the Droid leap.
 
I use my X to play mp3s in the car. It came with a 16 GB SD card.

Plus you can pull up Pandora on the road over the network.

For this reason alone, I don't even carry my iPod Touch in my purse anymore. I also enjoy streaming Slacker Radio when driving.

I've gotten so used to the large screen on the DroidX that I don't like looking at that tiny screen on the iPod Touch anymore.
 
Drop that iPod and get a DX. I use it as an mp3 player in the office and in the car (through the aux jack). No need to carry two devices.
 
I sold my Ipod Touch when I found PowerAmp on the Market. Plays any lossless music file, and has programmable eq and preamp. No crashes and sounds great.
 
Only thing that I'm not sure you can find as a feature is gapless playback. Never looked into it, but I've seen that gripe about the music options on Android.

Personally, i don't really care that much, but some people list that as a dealbreaker.
 
The stock player has eq presets like most car radios, but I think it sounds pretty bad. With PowerAMP, however, the music sounds great. Plus, the user interface is a billion trillion times better than the iPod. Plus, Pandora on Android lets you skip tracks, unlike the iPod. Do it, bro.

i had a zune HD whith some nice sony headphones. the DX is on par with the ZHD IMO which was a step above my ipod touch IMO in terms of music quality.

add in poweramp and the fully custom EQ and this thing is a VERY solid media player.
the only thing you will be missing is the battery life. with everything running, the DX just eats away the battery when listening to music or watching a video...but keep a charger around and you are golden.
 
The display typically uses at least eighty percent of the power. Keep it off when not needed and the battery life is fine.

I have a Quiet-comfort 2 Bose headset which works very well playing music through the X. I listen to everything from Hard Rock to classic Argentine Tango with this setup and it all sounds excellent. Also as previously mentioned keeping the screen off extends battery life quite a bit.

Yeah, I've gone 8 hours or so at work listening to my tunes, or Pandora. Of course I would surf the web and some at lunch too. I'd still have 30% or so power left when I get home.
 
Off topic - nice avatar rudybow.

On topic - I don't even carry my iPod anymore because of my dx (seems to be common in this thread). Has great quality and radio features so I enjoy it.
 
am i the only one that hasn't downloaded any music since getting an android phone. i used to DL music pretty much every day...now, i MAY download 1 song a month.


gotta love pandora and other streaming stations :)
 
I sold my iPod Touch when I got my X, but I carry an iPod Nano now. Getting music onto an Android phone just isn't as quick and easy as syncing up an iPod, in my opinion, and my car stereo controls an iPod, not an Android phone.

droid x has awesome sound quality, and duh ditch that iOS POS and hop on the droid bandwagon
 
I had a 64gb iPod Touch. Carried it, my old phone, and various accessories to charge and connect one or the other. Now, with my X, PowerAmp, and my Bose in-ear buds, I do not regret selling the iPod at all. Sounds fantastic and I only have to carry one device.
 
I don't think you'll find any sonic differences between the two devices personally. Get PowerAmp and GTunes and you're golden. PowerAmp (as has been recommended several times already) has an excellent EQ, plus a separate bass & treble knob. And with GTunes you can download any song you want absolutely free.

Doesn't get any better than that.
 
I hate to say this, but i think it should be mentioned...

If you are / were an Ipod touch user and liked it, and especially if you bought a lot of music from I-Tunes, you might want to consider an I-Phone. If you like I-tunes, switching to the Droid X won't be seemless, even using DoubleTwist.

I use isyncr to sync with itunes and I never have to think about it. Syncs over wifi automatically once a day, and I never have to plug in to the computer to sync.
 
I disagree with those that say the UI of power amp or any program is better than that of the ipod touch. I don't use my touch anymore cause its too much hassle and my dx gets the job done pretty well.

I did the EXACT same thing sold the iTouch and bought PowerAmp. I love the fact that I don't have to pause my touch to anwer the phone and then hit play again. Also bought a 32GB card.
