Root Droid X baseband upgrade?

Ok...so I'm starting to get ridiculously annoyed. It seems like my phone loves loves LOVES to go from 3G to 1X to 3G to completely dropping a connection of any kind. From what I've found, it seems like this is a common problem among the X's out there, however there is no logical reason why it should do this when my Droid 2 was completely fine, as was every other cell phone it seems like I've ever owned. I can't download any files larger than 10 megs because of this. Has anyone found a solution to this? Possibly forcing the X to hold a connection through a tweak or something? It really is getting old. I am rooted and running Liberty 1.0, however, it was like this stock.

Sry i don't have an answer but I'm also having the prob...but it started shortly i installed the liberty rom..and of course with us rooted users turning to big red is the last thing we want to do ...i came from rubix and then dint have the issue ill let u know if i found a solution vice versa. AP

Thanks for the replies. I did the *228 thing...now to see if my signal starts dropping off at work. That's where it pisses me off the most.

Well, I tried Liberty, but network issues like crazy! Never in 3G, and always up and down from 1RTT........

Went back to Apex, and solid 3G.

Obviously a problem with Liberty!

Or not... don't you think everyone would notice a glaring bug like that? No problems here. ;)

Check this out:

Use any cut to make a shortcut, under activities, select phone info. Change it to gsm only.

I am getting 4 bars 3g where I had 1 to 3 before. Amazing.

Edit: maybe check out gsm auto mode too. Currently, my phone will only choose 3g, as opposed to jumping between 1x and 3g. Videos are streaming well for the first time since I got my X!

What? The X is a cdma device, it doesn't have a gsm radio.

happens to me sometimes, i keep a shortcut to airplane mode and toggle it. seems to work for a good while.

Sorry - it's if I choose WCDMA only from the 'phone info' shortcut. It stays on 3g now in my house, where before it kept switching. It was jumping back and forth frequently since I got my X, but the moment I enabled that, it stopped swotching, and I can stream videos smoothly. So that's something I guess?

Try *#*#4636#*#* to Phone information to Set preferred network type: change to GSM/CDMA auto....

Also the same way to turn off 3g if you're in an area where thousands of other people are sucking away at the 3g and want to save battery life. Just change to CDMA only

Alas, I have no 'phone info' category in activities through LPP or through Bettercut (couldn't find Anycut).

Isnt it bewildering how a company will make a product that is fabulous in just about every way, but will make a glaring mistake in regards to a basic feature? Of course, I will probably be first in line for the Bionic :-8

Endroi, I wonder if it has more to do with the fact that they are rationing bandwidth when they think that you aren't using it. I haven't been able to make heads or tails out of why it goes back and forth.
