Root droid x gingerbread no root

I am just trying to figure out the most simple way to put gingerbread on my droid x. I dont have a need for rooting it but if i need to i will. Also I cant find a link that works anymore.

Alright, first you will have to root your 2.2 build. z4root will do just fine for that. You will then need to install Droid X Bootstrap.

After you have those two steps done let me know.

That thread should help you rooting your 2.2

Edit: When you have those two steps, you will have SUPERUSER installed, and Droid X Bootstrap. The bootstrap is $2.00 on the market. Buy it and support a great Dev.

Edit2: Start this download from this link. http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...id-x-gingerbread-2-3-3-release-prerooted.html

Check your System number in Settings>About Phone>System Version. It should be 2.3.340(I just realized now that you actually needed to be on this to root, so lets be thankful that you were earlier...haha). If it is...follow THIS. You can skip the first part about downgrading!

You aren't, yet you had root. One second....grabbing a link. and out of curiosity, what is that number?

Edit: Are you 100% SURE that you don't see 2.3.340 anywhere on that menu?

Ack. I've gotta jet. Sorry. I'm sure Faber or Stephen will be able to help you right where I left off. If you really true do have root, you might just be able to Flash the GingerBlur since you would have Access to the bootstrap.

yeah even rebooted to make sure that wasnt the problem. I didnt run the bootstrap recovery either, dont know if that makes a difference,

OK, check this.... from the home screen, hit the menu button, then Settings > About Phone. then post the numbers you have under System Version. after you have that number noted, go to your Droid X Bootstrapper app and select Bootstrap Recovery. if you rooted, it should pop up a Superuser window asking your permission. select Allow. after a couple seconds it should pop up "Success". let us know

when i go to setting/about phone version.2.3.9.mb810.verizon.en.us. When i go into the superuser icon under settings i have under supoeruser information sipuser v2.3.6.1. I am not sure what to do.

So you actually do have SuperUser. I am half tempted to have you try to flash the Gingerbread update, since you would be able to get there, theoretically...Since you have root and bootstrap access.

I wouldn't recommend it until someone else thinks that you should aswell. But the file would be the one from the GingerBlur Prerelease thread. 176MB I believe.

i did it, its restarting right now, i have the red moto sign.

im at the eyeball, its taking awhile, is this normal or did i mess it up by just trying it.

Hah! Woot! Glad to hear it!
Welcome to GingerBlur. I dislike the Blur...but Love the root. Hope you enjoy it!
