Droid X Keyboard now available for ALL PHONES!

If you want the arrows in swype... open up a text field for typing, and swype from the swype button in the bottom left corner of the screen to the button directly next to in on the right (ABC and Symbol button). That will open up the input menu with arrows.

Sweet! Any other cool features of Swype besides this, or a place we can go to learn them?

I was able to install it but it's not showing up as a keyboard selection. Tried reboot as well. Rooted with Fresh .3.

Edit: Dohhhh. Had to go into SETTINGS, Lang & Keyboard and select it there. Now it is one of the keyboard options. Looks nice but I'll stick with swype.

I have to say this keyboard is pretty good with keeping up with me. It is still slow posting on forums though. Im starting to think its the site and not the keyboard.

lol u r dum 4 thinking that, this is wut kind of txtspeak crap *shudder* that attitude results in. I'd much rather that I can sound like an adult when SMSing / emailing on my phone and have the keyboard help me do so by correcting spelling and capitalization when the touch-screen keyboard makes it more difficult to do so myself.

But yeah, you go with your anti-authority all-lowercase k3wlness.

i'm dumb for thinking that? you just called me dumb because i prefer a lower case "i" when texting, yet you're on a forum writing "u r dum 4"...uhm, alright. at least i spell things out correctly.

to each their own.
i don't need the letter "i" to be distinct from any other word/letter i type. you aren't my english teacher. no need to insult. grow up.

OK so I have it and running it. The 2 things I DON'T like about it is that the "i" does not automatically capitalize unless its the first letter after the period.

The second thing I don't like is there is no drop down arrow to "minimize" the keyboard like the Evo keyboard has.

Overall I do like it. I will run it for the day and see how it feels

1. i freaking love that about it! lol
2. just hit the back button. it's the same with swype

For some weird reason you have to use the back button to do this while typing on a web browser. On the other hand, if you are sending a text it gives you a "done" button on the top right which acts as your minimize arrow.

Ok so are there several versions of this keyboard out there? I ask because the lag is so bad on this that it only highlights maybe every fifth letter i type, rarely shows the animation of the letter popping up, and is consistantly at least a word behind me on the screen. What's even more annoying is the space bar animation sticks from lag (so do other keys but they don't cover half the keyboard) so i am typing from memory while it covers the bottom and middle six keys.

I have the apk file from the xda forum thread.

i downloaded the .apk that was provided in this thread on first page, and it is smooooth as butter, quick on forums too (other forums didnt try this one specifically). plus my text to speech button works perfectly.

i am officially replacing shapewriter with this now.

I like this keyboard a lot, the only thing I would change about it is to remove the mic button and the period button on the default page and make the spacebar bigger, then it would be just like my old iPhone keyboard I loved so much. Well I guess I wish Android had the the magnifying glass for selecting text because then the removal of the trackball and arrow buttons would not be a big deal.

I really like this keyboard. I also had no problem with the stock kb either dont know why ppl are bashing it. But I will use this Droid X KB from now on.

Havent tried Swype but I have used Better KB and this one is much better (no pun intended) :-)

Don't like it, the multi touch just causes more mistakes if u type fast. and it takes up a lot of space in landscape mode. sticking with stock keyboard.

I wonder how this will be for me compared to Swype. Swype was causing me to have a lot of issues with my touchscreen and from time to time, it wouldn't register any full word starting with the letter "s". It was weird. Thanks for posting this.

i'm going to do some modifications on this keyboard later today when i wake up. going to be fixing the & symbol for both the number set and the alt set as well as tweaking the settings button. upon holding it down, a menu pops up and it currently says "Android keyboard settings" and then a bunch of symbols which should actually say "Input Method".
