Droid X keyboard

Just tried it again, twice. First a computer download, then a direct download from phone browser. Neither one worked.

Ok, deleted everything, rebooted phone, direct downloaded again with phone browser, and Boom! it worked. Go figure!

So I see we can clear the User Dictionary, but is there no way to edit it word by word?

It does not appear we have the same functionality as with the default to remove individual words, but I think that's a fairly new feature for HTC's keyboard anyways, I know my Eris didn't have that option on 1.5, and I can't remember if 2.1 did or not.

You can always tap to move the cursor and backspace, or do the long press to cut text.

Nah, you're missing my question. Say I add a word to the dictionary I didn't want to add. For example, the dictionary doesn't have "Haha." If I type "Haha" and then press it on the top row, it says "Saved." Now, how do I delete that one word, "Haha" from the dictionary without having to use the setting that says "Clear User Dictionary," which deletes all the words I've added.

Aah, gotcha. I never thought of that because i have never wanted to delete words from the dictionary. I only wish these keyboards would auto save new words. Like some of the older phones do. ;)

I'm waiting as well. I remember the Droid X keyboard being available with 2.1, and that's probably the version thats FCing on you. That QWERTZ keyboard is awesome, if only it weren't QWERTZ..... I might finally have an acceptable replacement for the default keyboard!

Edit: Did anyone actually try installing the "rooted only" version on their non-rooted phone? Cause I just did and it worked fine! I get the user dictionary and everything, and its QWERTY. Just only install the apk (just like any other apk you would install) Here's a link to make things easy:
d2keyboard-signed-fixed4.apk

This file works great on non-rooted froyo 2.2 incredible.

I used Astro to install from SDCard.

The only thing to remember is that if you attempted to install any another multi-touch keyboard (i.e. the German version with the "Z" and "Y" transposed) you must first "uninstall" and then install the new d2keyboard-signed-fixed4.apk file.

Then from home screen Menu>Settings>Language&Keyboard check Multi-touch keyboard.

Now open any app that lets you type. Long-press in the typing box. Sub-menu pops up allowing you to change input method. Select multi-touch keyboard.

No reboot of phone needed

Just installed as well. Works great thanks much!

This just prevented me from installing miui though, want to see how I like this keyboard first.

this definitely worked for me.
unrooted and nice 'n' qwerty.

the german APK is still the best one. The new one that is for rooted phones is not as fast as the german one. The root one lags hardcore the german one is the fastest for typing still.
