***Droid X Software Update***

Didn't have the popup, clicked the button to check and the update popped up.

Seattle area (south). I am also on wifi with 1X and intermittent 3G.

Weird before the update my battery was in the yellow zone. .now it's green near full power

That sounds like they did fix the battery level reporting issues people have had. Hopefully at least.

Mine would appear to get low on battery level too fast. But, if I restarted the phone before it shut itself off, it would show a higher battery level afterwards.

First new change I just found: When you're in camera mode, the flash option actually tells you if it's on auto/on/off (the symbol changes).

Weird, I thought I completed the update (got the successful install message), so I put my phone down. A few minutes later, I picked it up and I was seeing the red droid eye again. I hit the home button and the screen went blank, but still backlit. Now it's sitting there w/ a black screen for the past 5 minutes. Gonna restart.

B4 the update while browsing the web i would receive error messages while opening sites all the time now it hasn't happened

Again, checking for system updates does NOTHING to force the update to your phone.

I agree but like I said if you check it sometimes it will be there before you ever get the pop up for it. I was just saying that it was possible to find the update there before you get a message telling you that you have an update. But I agree that it doesn't force the update to your phone.

I'm wondering if those hoping for root should wait to upgrade their phone. If the OTA adds anything we don't know about and it locks up a key point that the XDA hackers might have been trying to exploit. Hm... I hope that's not the case.

What says everyone here?

I downloaded the update and chose to "Install Later" in the hopes of finding the update file, but I can't seem to find it. Nothing on my SD card.

Does anyone know the location the update file may have saved to?

i installed it, and rebooted my phone after it was done. I keep getting no service on the status bar now and can't fix it!:(

is it suppose to take a while on the red eye directly after the update?
ok finally after 5 mins lol!
LMAO my battery was at 40% also and is at 70% HAHA
I'm noticing ZERO lag on the lock slider!
Camera switches from cam to vid better, and focus is much better!

For those of you trying, give this a shot -- worked for me.

I was getting the 'Can't check for update now.' message on when doing a manual check.

So, I wifi'd up, tried it again and it kept trying and trying, but never gave me an error message.

Did a soft reset (Hold down Power Button, select Power Off, give it 30 seconds, and power up again)

THEN went to software update (with WIFI still on) and wham bam thank you mam the update was available to me...downloading now!

Hope that works for others!

Hey Folks, heads up!

I was in the yellow on battery prior to the update. The update completed and I was on a call to a friend when the phone displayed some popup message for about 0.1 second (!) and the phone turned off.

I tried repeatedly to turn it back on and nothing, nada. I plugged it into USB and the green charging light came on, tried restarting, nada! Waited 10 mins, nada!

Tried power cable, phone showed Motorola logo then dead again. Waited a minute, tried again and saw the new big battery with sloshing red juice and a big 5%. I guess the phone thinks the level is too low to start, even if plugged in!

Luckily, we are a 4 droid family so I swapped batteries and the symptoms went with the battery so the phone is fine! :) I guess the update for some reason bypassed the normal "charge your battery" warning and went straight to goodnight!

there is no led indicator while charging. But it flashes for like a second when you put the charger in... lol stupid!!!
Small text is sharmer and easier to read now!

the battery level jumped up on mine as well.... i turned GPS on, but no GPS symbol on the notification bar unless i open the google maps app. was it like this before? i couldnt remember

I don't know about yall, but I can't really tell anything different. Sure the camera is snappier but it was alright before. As for the battery issue, I guess we'll find out later when we need a recharge.
