***Droid X Software Update***

Still new to Android platform. So OTA updates will automatically be sent to the device? What type of notification will we get?

The big thing they are missing is the picasa gallery syncing bug. Wish that would get fixed soon!

Is this the bug where if you try to send something to "Online Album" it makes a text message, and then it doesn't go anywhere? Been trying to figure this out...

Woke up 6:30 Phoenix-time. Watched update install on wife's Droid. Not on my DX.

In Mesa, no update.

Everyone gets that update when you first get the phone. the update that is being discussed by everyone else is a different update. Not 2.1-update1

Not to nitpick but not everyone gets that update as soon as they get their phone. I bought mine retail and activated it at home so I know it was never turned on prior to me getting it and it already had the update loaded on it.

Nope, another reason I am not the biggest fan of the OTA method. Prefer being able to just go download it and install it myself and not be at the mercy of the manufaturer saying I can wait.

I've been on the phone with Verizon a few times in regards to the .514 software that is on the pre-release phones and the .516 software that people have with the release phones. There was no OTA update for the .516 software, it came stock, pre-installed on all phones.

I wouldn't expect it until after 6pm, getting an update that disables your phone for 5-10 mins in the middle of the day would tick a lot of people off.

I really dont expect it to happen today to be honest. They always love to tease us with saying that we will see an update on such and such date, but I have come to not expect anything for a WHILE after the date they gave us.

Yea the update will probably be spread out to avoid any issues.

Yeah well this is for other stuff not the .516 its a bunch of things to make the phone even better

The update usually goes out to a group of people say a couple thousand at first to make sure it doesnt have any issues then they release it to everyone

Really? It's a minor update. If you don't like it now, you probably won't like it after the update.
