Help Droid X - This phone sucks!!

I feel the same way, and you are right, I'm about to return this fency 'toy' and get a 'real' smartphone!
After 25 years, they put me out to the pasture :(

Please tell us what a 'real' smartphone is. I'm curious as the X is my first smartphone. There is a better one available that is not a 'toy'?

Just asking...

I'll agree with the question, but not the statement of a "toy". I use mine for business all day... then I use it for my personal life in a serious manner. I'm not so sure how one could say that it's a toy. I mean... it makes phone calls, too. And it does this well.

^ I agree also. What I consider a "toy" is a phone that has bad reception, but has a beautiful screen.....

What I consider a "toy" is a phone that plays games real good, but has trouble with certain aspects of the phone cuz of what the phone manufacture decided to do when making the phone...

I don't think I should have had to spend as many hours researching and rooting around for a solution (and pay for it, to boot...), but I think using the gSyncit program at http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync/ seems to be working OK. Took a little noodling around to get Outlook properly interfaced with Gmail (hope you think cloud-based interface is OK), but I got a prompt response to an email inquiry to the support at the website and all seems to sync up fine. Compared to the high $ figures from some other providers, $14.95 for a single computer is not bad.

I also looked at GSyncit. The concern I have with it is that my employers block Android access through Exchange Activesync (I really need to figure out how to get around this). They also block web access to GMail. I'm really leery about spending the $15 for something like GSyncit when my tech support folks prevent each method of accessing GMail from my corporate network.

I'd really love to see someone write a straightforward activesync client for Android that communicates directly with Activesync/Windows Mobile Device center. Now that would be very cool!!

Amazon.com: Motorola Droid X (MB 810) Protective Vinyl Skin Decal Sticker Verizon - Beer Buzz

the pop out tap would be cool ...but this makes DX beer...what more could we want? ;)

Yours must be defective. Mine has a pop-out tap when I remove the battery cover.

Yeah, it's a poor design - I mean, who wants to pop off the battery cover to get a beer? But all things considered, I think it was the only place the engineers could put it without risk of the tap handle snapping off.

Take it back to Verizon and have them look at it.

The only complaint I have about this phone as that it doesn't dispense beer.

I had concerns about the DroidX, coming from a BB Storm. From what I see, it does everything the same(only differently...if that makes sense). Only I can put a couple more apps on it, well a couple hundred more ;).

My only complaint is the lack of Flash.

I'd be reluctant too. Why in the world would you have people's social security numbers in your contacts?you have people's social security numbers in your contacts?

As I stated, this information is only in my desktop pc and in my handheld Palm. Both are password protected and are as secure as anything could be. That's why I don't want the information on Google.

I don't know about you, but I can't memorize all of my login id's, passwords, and social security numbers. They need to written down somewhere. If you have all that information memorized, you are a better man than I am (and better than anyone I know!!).

I do! But maybe it's because I'm a woman? :p :p :p

1. Email IMHO is no different on a BB compared to a Android.

I'm sorry, but this is one of the few things (including Messenger) that BB has nailed. I'm not saying Android's current email offerings aren't great, but they leave a LOT to be desired, especially for those of us who have been dedicated BB users in the past.

This isn't necessary, and would be a huge pain in the ass for anyone with a huge music library. All you have to do to have songs play in "album order" is long press the album and select "play all". If you just tap the album it will list the songs in alphabetical order. I do agree with OP that this seems a little crazy - no other music player I've ever had does this. But I do think he's a fool for ranting and flaming rather than asking how to solve his problem.

I use certain true file share programs to get my mp3s, others are ripped straight from the original disc. The majority of them have the correct credentials so the music is played in order, always - long story short is I have over 90gb of mp3 (not .wavs nor .cdrs) and I've never found it to be a pain the ars.

BUT

I've tried what you mention above, long press on the album - its not there, Play is, Add to playlist, Delete and Search. What OS are you on? 2.2 requires the settings button to be pressed to play all and you also have to enter the album to even get that option available.

DRIOD X has become a four-letter word with me. Verizon said my BB Tour was crashing and recommended DRIOD. My BB Tour "crashed" the same time Verizon merged with Altell ("All-Hell) towers. Constant-blue-triangle...maybe my Tour was OK. Can we get back to the issue of 'Notes". Is it true my notes will never sync with Driod X? and NOT AS ONE LARGE NOTE, but separately.

In answer to your second point about the music app playing in alphabetical order...try this.
You "long press" the album you want to listen to and a menu will pop up. Press "play" from this menu and it will play the album in the track order. Found on another forum.
