Help Droid X wont update

My droid x is running 2.2 unrooted, though i originally rooted with z4root, i've tried unrooting and restarting but so far my droid x wont update to the new system version that came out. It downloads it, restarts the phone, and gets about a quarter of the way through the installation then shows a "!" Then restarts it and tells me software update failed. Anyone got any ideas how to fix this? Ive even tried doing a factory data reset...but no luck

When it starts the upgrade (and is on that boot loader screen) press the Search button and it will show details. Then, you will be able to see the error (it will also pause, so you can write it down). Please tell us what seems to be going on.. :)

If you uninstalled any bloat while you were rooted, that causes that exact error. If you kept backups of it or if you can find the right versions to reinstall, you can fix it that way. Otherwise, you have to sbf back to stock and then you can upgrade.

I didnt intentionally uninstall any bloat, so is there any way i can find out what bloat is missing and reinstall it? Also what is "sbf"?

If you didn't uninstall anything, then that's not your problem, and I have no idea what is. Did you change any of the system files?

SBF is to just reinstall the stock OS, exactly as Verizon would expect it to be. It solved my issue when I couldn't update a couple days ago.

Complete Droid X .sbf Flashing Guide has the guide to doing so if you want to try it. Its not as scary as it looks.

I did a factory reset and cleared the cache partition after unrooting my phone after I got stuck in a boot loop. Its all back to factory default except my background and my contacts. Iv got all the same crapps I did before and It keeps telling me Update failed. But I also used Z4 root to root and unroot my phone. I expect the app may have some change unaffected by the factory reset.

After I reinstalled z4root I found that my phone was still rooted, the factory reset did not remove the root.. Im going to preform a restore with Titanium backup so I can reclaim all my apps. then unroot and try to preform an OS update again.

So far no luck...... I'm thinking the phone knows its been rooted and its trying to abort the OS update.. like how an Intel processor will tell if its been overclocked so they will void your warranty. but In this case prevent an OS update...

I hope to have a fix for this in a week... Once I know I will share with everyone what to do to try and update the OS.

Same here. Rooted with Z4 and unrooted with Z4 and it will not update. I never removed or froze any bloat ware. I did ROM but reverted back to Froyo. I did a factory resest and it will not update either. Guess sbf is the answer but I'm more than happy with Froyo.
