Droid X2 specs getting closer to confirmed...

what whats better the x2 or boinic?

Probably a Bionic.

Aside from the rumored Tegra2 processor I'm not sure the specific specs the X2 is running but I was lucky enough to run a quadrant on it which resulted in a 2496 score.

This was run on a recently activated X2 running mostly stock apps.
(Hmmm, I hope I can't get in trouble for disclosing that type of info...)

Don't see any reason to pic up the x2 over the bionic this phone makes no sense to me whatsoever. The differences are the bionic has a ffc 4g and a larger battery I dont see what reason you could possibly want the x2??? someone want to explain it?

Just throwing this out there, what if the x2 will be one of the unlocked bootloader dev phones moto has said they will have eventually would you chose the bionic or x2?

My stock gb x gets close to 2k and and with some ocing i can get it up to 2.4k like your saying the x2 is at... kinda meh tbh id rather you ran smartbench it's much better for comparing 2 different phones quadrants pretty inacurrate

For the exact same reasons there is also a Droid2 and Droid Global. Choice is never a bad thing.

The DX2 and Bionic are shaping up to be similar, but some may prefer one form factor over another, may want to pay less for 3G coverage, or for whatever reason, Verizon wants to give people more options.

4g doesnt cost anything extra so that argument is null. Dont see anyone choosing form factor over ffc 4g and a larger battery that just wouldn't make any sense.

I'm still not sure I buy these specs.

It would make no sense for Motorola to have two phones with such similar specifications. Either these specs aren't correct, or there's something we're not seeing - some kind of market differentiator. Maybe very different price points? They could be trying to capture a whole swath of the market by having the 4G phone more expensive and the X2 being the flagship 3G phone to capture the bottom segment?

Seems odd, though.

Yea I don't get the similarity between the DX and DX2...makes no sense to me either.

I for one and eyeing the Bionic. Hope it comes out soon.

4G wont be a "no charge" upgrade for long. i for one think this is a pretty great 3G phone. i would take this over the bionic in a heart beat if 4G really sucks that much battery (see thunderbolt). my phone is on a charger all day, pulling in data...rarely do i find the need to be any faster than 3G when i am out and about. i am sure i am in the smaller group of people tho

I'll give smartbench a shot if I can get my hands back on it. I do see your argument about the X2 not offering enough to differentiate itself from the Bionic but personally I really dislike not having the 4 physical buttons, and I've grown to love the feel of the X2. Had all things been similar between the two (4g, resolution, ram, etc.) I'd almost surely have stayed with the X2.

Having said that I'm waiting to get my grubby fingers on a Bionic before I make any decisions.

Why are you do sure 4g is going yo cost extra, most other carriers dont charge extra for their 4g, even if its much faster then any capother the public just sees 4g as 4g. The way I see it is they are probably going to go to a tier system for 3g and 4g will just use the same data cap. As far as battery life 4g doesnt burn that much more then 3g and you can turn ot off when you need to. The battery life problems on the tbolt are a fault of its tiny battery , and thats why the stock bionic battery is pretty massive. On my tbolt I ended up just getting an extra battery and I keep 4g on all day without a problem ive gotten some days without needing the second battery.

No? Sprint is the only other company with a 4G network right now, and they charge a data premium.

The network that T-Mobile and ATT are touting as 4G isn't really 4G, it's HSDPA+. When ATT gets their LTE network off the ground, I'm guessing they'll charge extra.

3G cost extra over 2G.

Actually sprints newer 3g only android phones have required that fee so its more of a smartphone data fee and the 4g is no charge.

I said this before somewhere. If the X2 has everything the Bionic has and still has the dual antennas and 3 mics. I would get the X2.

if the X2 isnt LTE, it might be a hard decision for me.

Doubt the x2 is lte, it doesnt have a ffc and pics have shown it with 3g reception, I heard the bionic has 2 mics 3 is overkill and lte has better reception in low 3g areas so I'm not worried about the small difference the dual antenna makes

On Sprints network you pay an extra $10 bucks for 4g. My buddy is on the $69 everything plan. He went from a Blackberry Curve to an EVO 4g and they added $10 bucks to his bill for having a 4g device even though we're not in a 4g area yet.

So yes, there is a premium for 4g on Sprint. My guess is it will be similar on Verizon come this summer.

not sure if you just didnt read my post or you dont believe me but the reason your friend didnt have to pay the 10$ was because he was on contact before it was added. If you were to try to sign a new contact with a blackberry you would be hit by it. I googled it for you Sprint Community: Plans: What's there to know about the $10 Premium Data Add-on for Smartphones?

Because Verizon said they are going to tired data plans (rumored to happen this summer)

Not really, it's the reason the DX has the best noise cancellation available

Yes they are but they never said 4g is extra dont see what that has to do with anything.

The third mic has nothing to do with noise cancellation its for recording purposes

Ah, fair enough my man I apologize, I was going by what my friend had told me and apparently he misunderstood his new charge. Either that or initially it was added on as a 4g charge but then was applied across the board?

Either way you're right and I'm wrong.

Why a DX2? If one has a lot tied up in accessories, it might make some sense. I have two desktop docks and a car dock, HDMI cable, extra battery and a case. That is a significant savings to reuse them for a new phone. I love the hard keys, higher res, dual core, and if it has LTE, it might be my next phone. I really want a Keyboard, but am finding no one makes a top of the line slider on verizon.

Why are you spending so much time trying to "justify" a phones existance or not? I'm quite sure Verizon's marketing team > you. You make think that's harsh, but it's the truth. As techies, we sometimes forget that specs aren't everything and what looks like crap to us on paper can actually be a companies best selling model.

I'm willing to bet that the rumored specs are not correct, and when the DX2 actually arrives, it will be quite a bit less capable than the Bionic performance wise. My guess is that the DX2 will land as overclocked DX with more memory. I highly doubt qHD screen, FFC and Tegra.

Bionic is supposed to be releases soon, with DX2 not being released until end of summer/fall timeframe.
