DROIDX Gingerbread Update

Are y'all part of the soak or just regular DX users?

Oh yeah, sorry I didn't clarify. I'm a standard user. I took the plunge, I want to start getting more involved with my phone as I consider myself tech-savy. Sounds like I'll be able to root eventually, or go back a version.

Public Service Accnouncement: If you are a participant of the supposed Motorola soak and post here that you got the update, are downloading the update, or plan to install the update soon, be aware that if Motorola checks this forum and your handle matches what is registered with the Motorola Feedback Network, you may be at risk of losing that benefit in the future. Not saying you will... and not saying you won't... just saying...

So if you need to be stock to get the update does that include the stock launcher? I'm using Launcher Pro now, but I still had the stock launcher for the last OTA. Will having launcher pro mess with the update?

as long as the stock launcher is there and not renamed or frozen with titanium it should be fine...

So just download it as update.zip put it on sd and it is a good as ota?
huh? no way...you will need to install the rooted versions through Clockwork...no renaming

My phone downloads the update, but I can't get passed clockworkmod! I'm not sure what to do.

if you're taking the OTA you don't use clockworkmod at all!...

clockwork? I've deleted it in the apps, and cleared system cashe, but it still appears whenever it resets. I removed root with z4.

So putting the non-disclosure agreement aside for a moment, can anyone think of a logical and plausible business reason for Motorola to keep the update a big secret? You'd think they would enjoy the publicity of being the first company (on Verizon at least) to rollout Gingerbread.

Plus if anyone read that email posted in the news section, you'd think national security was at risk or something.

(Obviously this question is a bit rhetorical, but if anyone cares to offer a suggestion, please do)

Update bricks phones. NDA prevents panic as they pull the update down.

I got an email about 2 weeks ago from Motorola asking me to participate in different sorts of testing, had me fill out a form on the Moto support site with my ESN and whatnot, so I thought maybe I would get in on the early OTA, but I've got nothing so far.
