Help DroidX: How do I turn 3G ON/OFF?

DroidX, LauncherPro+

Going from Verizon to PagePlus I have limited Mobile Network access and it's metered ($$), so obviously I'll mostly use WiFi.

But how do I turn Broadband ON and OFF on the DroidX? Settings>Wireless>Mobile Networks just gives "System Select", a choice of CDMA system: Home only or Automatic.

???

Setings>Battery and Data Manager Uncheck Background Data and Data Enabled.

And FWIW, 3G is not broadband by any stretch....;)

Thanks.

I see that "background data" is checked, and doesn't run the meter. Interesting...

Also, I used a Home Page widget (Elixir) to turn Data on/off once it's ON using that Battery/Data page. Seems to work.

PagePlus TNT plan is 1200 minutes talk, 3000 texts/pictures, and 100MB data - for $29.95 per month with no taxes, fees, porting or setup charges. $30/month, and some resellers discount a dollar or two. It's Verizon, so works well.

I use data for email on the go, and only occasional browsing (WiFi is almost everywhere now), but if I go over 100MB it's a dime per megabyte.

My whole family is on this now. It's $360 per YEAR per person, and I do auto payment monthly so there's nothing to it. They should pay me...

PagePlus works with most Verizon phones six months old or more, but not new ones. Howard keeps track of what works and what doesn't, and Craig is your friend...

Yes.
For my 93 year old Mom (no text, no web) I bought 2000 talk minutes for $80. She uses ~300 minutes a month, which costs me $12. That's twelve dollars a month. She's on an LG phone that cost $20 new.
