Root Dropbox and Nandroids

I am just getting into using dropbox on my phone and have a question. I here of people putting nandroids into dropbox and was wondering how exactly this is done because as far as I can't tell you can only move a single file at a time not whole folders?

Well, I suppose you could just do it one file at a time within a dropbox folder structure like this

/dropbox/nandroid/nandroid1/(all files go here)

something like that maybe?

Thats what I was thinking and now that got me wondering I guess it would be the same process for either uploading or downloading?

I would think so. But if you use the add-in feature for your file manager of choice (likely Windows Explorer or nautilus or something), then you could just copy of the files and it should sync that way....

just a thought.

Also since the files have to be moved one at a time and then grouped back together in a folder would this cause any ill affects to the nandroid when it is restored? And should you give the folder that you place inside nandroid folder any specific name?

No ill affects should be created by storing in dropbox.

My suggestion would be go to the nandroid folder you want to save and zip it then send it to dropbox so if you have this:

nandroid/serialnum/bsde012711947

then zip the bsde folder this creates 1 file you can upload to dropbox.

i actually just copy my nandroid backups to the computer then i copy and paste my nandroid backup in my dropbox folder on my computer that way i have a copy on my computer and a copy in my dropbox account. i never do it on my phone.

In dropbox you have limited space I would zip to save space. I also have an 8gig that came with the phone I keep a nandroid on it and a rom for that dreaded moment.

If I have a nandroid on my phone with rom xyz (for that dreaded moment), do I need to keep the rom on there for the nand to restore?
