Dropped it already!

I would get it I have it and the feel of the grip plus the weight make it perfect for me. it was too lite before.

I was putting on my shoes and mine dropped literally 5 inches, landing on the face on wood floors..hairline crack in screen.

how big? sure its not scratch?

Yeah there was nothing on the floor to scratch it. It's about 2 and 1/2 inches long and is wide at the top and runs down to the buttons getting very narrow and difficult to see at the bottom. Really odd..never seen a screen crack so easily.

My OG Droid and Droid X have been dropped many, many times and have always worked perfectly. No cases or screen protectors ever. The screens still look flawless, but you can definitely see metal through the paint all around the chassis. The OG Droid looks like it has been to war, but works perfectly. I expect the Bionic to have this same build quality. Not freaking out every time my phone drops is awesome. I don't even pick it up right away most of the time, because I know it's fine.

On a side note, I had the Incredible for a little while and broke 2 of them from short falls right away. HTC's lack of build quality and the fact that the battery only lasts a couple hours, will keep me away from HTC for a very long time.

I've had an Incredible for over a year and dropped it many times, without anything breaking. But of course the 1 time my buddy breaks his blackberry and I'm bragging about how mine doesnt break. I throw it on the cement and it breaks! WTF I dropped it like 50 times on cement before. But oh well. It gave me an excuse to order my Bionic!

There are 3 Otterbox cases for it. Mine is on its way. I'll never have another phone without an Otterbox case.

Yes, I got the last one that ATT had in the store the day I picked up my Atrix. I'd heard that the little sucker was slippery, and it was too much money to chance dropping it.

For the same reason, I also opted for the insurance that ATT offered at $4.99/month basic policy.

Now I realize that since it is an electronic device, my homeowners insurance would cover it.....our rider covers us for $5,000 worth of electronics. TVs, computers, modems, routers, GPS, sound equipment, DVD/Bluray, Wii, phones, and cameras. And I guess that now will include the Kindle and the Atrix....

I dropped my phone for the first time today on the hard wood floor in my kitchen and the back came flying off as well as the battery. My capacitive buttons used to be a kinda of yellowish/whiteish but since the drop they're more of a bright white. So i somewhat benefited from the drop heh heh. Not that im suggesting anyone try this that has those yellowish buttons :D

Glass is funny stuff- it depends on the angle at which it hits - or something hits it, the thickness of the glass, temperature, etc.

I'll bet the Tab hit on it's corner (juuuuust right)
And because the screen is larger it's much more fragile than the Bionic. Although, I think the OGDroid was probably even safer, being smaller yet.

Gorilla glass is impact and scratch resistant, not -proof. No screen protector for me.

I've already cracked my screen. Was getting out of my g/f's car with it in my lap with about a 2ft drop to the asphalt. I knew it without looking at it.

I've done that a hundred times with my OG and nary a scratch. What finally did my OG's screen in was a 4ft drop onto concrete getting out of my truck. I'm using my holster every time now.

This doesnt bother yall?
With my Bionic, I would be pissed if I already cracked my screen and signed a 2 year contract to get it!!
Please get cases and screen protectors!!!! lol!!!

I feel for you guys but for me not just this phone, any phone i have owned, screen protector before you leave the store, and put in a case that covers the whole phone not just the back and I don't drop phones as it is but why take chances, I use a leather sleeve with a removable clip so i can wear it on the belt or the inside pocket of my jacket.
