Root dunno what happened

ok im still a little new at this i know how to root and have done it on several phones but after i rooted my sequent i tried to put a rom on it and when i went to reboot it freezes on the android screen but its not an android its just a bunch of lines, it wont go into recovery or ftm. but one thing it does do is when i hold both vol up and down then power the red led lighrt comes on. the computer wont reconize the device unless i do that and it reconizes it as zte diagnostics port (com9). can i fix this or did i brick it?

ok you rooted it and then what exactly were you trying to do to install the rom? take me through step by step of what you did from the rooting to the time it crashed and i may be able to help

oh and for reference that is what is called ftm mode, you can download the zte update tool from their site and it will fix it but if youd like to know how to properly install a rom then you may want to tell us exactly what you did step by step from the beginning

Sorry junkie been really busy havent been on in a bit. Ok so i downloaded the drivers and got root access. Then i downloaded a rom onto my sd card its been a couple months ago so i cant remember which one exactly but then i powered off my phone and booted into cmw recovery then i wiped data and cleared cache. Then i installed the rom zip file from sd, the installation was complete so i rebooted my phone. Thats when it booted and had all those lines across my screen.
And also zte update tool makes it to the third screen then cant read device.

I'm wondering if your rom that you installed was for the ZTE Warp .... before the Sequent was released, and had any roms made specifically for it. There's a lot of work done for that Warp, and those roms were stable long before the Sequent arrived.

I came close to doing that, when I started reading these forums, and had very little actual understanding, that they could hurt my new phone unless made for the model.

There's lot's on the topic of UN-Bricking, in the forum, ... if it comes to that.

Try here.

so holding both buttons and kicking into that thing where the red light stays on doesnt work? it should. and it does in fact seem as though you flashed a rom for a different device. but ftm mode is that thing that happens with the black screen and the red light, get it to that and try zte update

I have done that numerous times and same thing every time cant read device on third page . You guys are prolly right i might have downloaded one from the warp i still had all those roms on my sd card i bought the sequent because i thought the warp was a great phone and had alot of roms and different stuff u could customize. Im gonna try dimbulbs link and see if that helps. I knew that was ftm mode well use to b lol. I am still a noob at this and i appreciate the help. I hate asking for help i like to try and figure it out myself. But i was stuck. Again thanks alot there are so many talented people in this forum and i have learned alot from reading til my eyes burn lol. Im sure will figure this out i have saved alot of phones i thought were finished.

Hey dimbulb that link had no matches when i clicked on it

Sorry,

I'll see what I can find and get back.

OK, my error, the search I did earlier, was unproductive, I was running out the door, so didn't check the result, I posted.

Way back a month or two ago, I learned, that it was possible to re-store a phone, that had been "bricked". I just ran across a reference in this forum somewhere. That was a very real relief, I stashed the link away, and like my power bill for this month, can't find it.

Now, with some more understanding, (that I did not have then), I'm clear, that ANY advice might need to be specific to the model of phone that no longer starts, runs, boot's etc.

I didn't know that then, I do know it now.

Looking around, I found some really bad YouTube video's, as it's really difficult to see an out of focus close up being shown of a PC screen running downloaded software that detects your phones boot loader, and says it can do something about that.

Bricked Android phone? We fix them - YouTube

From that page, you will notice many others, ALL of which are NOT ZTE Warep Sequents.

Here's one though, showing a man who can get into recovery, and has what seems to be hundreds of roms to choose from, but the YouTube video is specific to the idea of incompatibility of a rom to the model phone it's loaded into.

How To UnBrick your Android Phone? - Rom error mainly! - YouTube

And then there's this fella who's going to "unbrick" it for you, but charges $45.00. You send it, he fix's it and send's it back.

Of course, ... Missouri probably has store front's (like in the Twin Cities), where you can get it done also. And I'm not suggesting that you pay anyone, only providing the "idea" if it helps.

Finally here's an entirely different phone, with very specific instructions, ... offered for any helpful information it contains, there's a lot of people, (Junkies one) who are going to know right away if this has useful value for you.

http://androidforums.com/motion-4g-...rick-lg-motion-unroot-getting-1-5ghz-kdz.html

This information is offered to help a fella out, who's got a problem. But, I haven't had to sweat through using or trying any of it to fix my own phone.
So I hope you will see it as offered in the spirit intended, I can only hope that some of it might help, but there's no guarantee.

Good luck

Sounds me like a hard bricked device. Barely getting into ftm mode, and nothing is picking up the device via usb.
I would say your last hope is ZTE, i mean your still under your 1 year warranty so it shouldnt cost ya a thing. Im not exactly sure how ZTE do there "thing" when it comes to fixing phones but in the past with samsung when i bricked my phone flashing a kernel to test for stuff and it bricked my device right after the shutdown of the phone. It couldnt get into Odin mode at all so my only hope at this point was Samsung. So i called them up telling some bullshit story about how its not turning on and the rep sent a prepaid postal address from my place to theres via email. Anyway i sent it out the next day, once they finally got it i could track the repair status of the phone online. They replaced the motherboard with a new one so that they could reload the entire os and crap onto it since the old one was not useable. They sent it back to me free of charge because it said it was under the 1 yr warranty and there was no sign of physical or water damage.

I would assume ZTE does the same or something similar. As long as theres no water or physical damage to the phone and since its pretty much bricked hard point, if your computers can detect it niether should theres. They would have to replace the motherboard on your phone to fix it. There will be no sign of root and should cost you nothing.

Hey if you do decide giving ZTE a shot heres your bullshit story
"My phone said it had a update and i let it do its thing but it shutdown in the middle of the update i thought that was normal so i left it for 20 mins or so. When it didnt turn back on automatically i decided to do it manualy by pressing the power button"
then explain the state of the device to them "red notification light screen black" and there you have it. Your bullshit story lol and since you guys did just recieve an update it works perfectly and since they screw up a lot they would prob believe it. Not to say it can never happen in real life, anything is possible, but anyway From there the rep should be setting you up for phone repair.

Best of luck to you man

Your prolly right chev i didnt even think bout that i have always heard if u root the phone it voids the warranty. Even if i did send it and they came back at me sayn i tampered wit it what am i gonna lose, a phone that i have replaced wit my lg Venice. But its worth a try. I havent tried rooting my Venice yet not til there is a stable cwm. But i will. I will keep u posted what i have done and if it worked. I wanna thank all of u for the help and keep up the good work.
