EA Mobile no longer on Android Market

I own Tetris , The Sims 3 and Need for Speed Shift which I bought from EA mobile. EA Mobile as of today is no longer in the market and neither are their games, at least in Canada.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Now I can find Eletronic Arts which is selling Need for Speed Shift. But I have a feeling that is a fake company selling a ripped copy of NFS from EA. EA Mobile was setup first and it makes no sense to set up Electronic Arts. I noticed Electronic Arts more than a month ago so its not like its the replacement.

Either way I can no longer download the three games I paid for. I don't even have NFS installed right now because of the update that was released just before Christmas which made the game no longer work on my Galaxy S.

So if EA did pull their games off the Market why do you think they did it?

Do you think their going to follow Gameloft's strategy and set up their own store. So they can filter out the games that are incompatible with your device. Which was a big issue with NFS not working on a lot of devices.

So using Market Enabler and spoofing the market into thinking I'm from the US. I do see EA Mobile is available in the US.

The bad news is it looks like they removed NFS and added it again. So if you own the game already it wont work and you will have to buy it again. Even worse, the price is now $9.99. The game currently has less than 50 downloads and no comments.

I'm not sure what is going on here but it definitely smells like shit.

The Sims 3 shows up as Installed for me. It has over 50,000 downloads and is ranked and commented on so if you own that game everything is good.

Looks like Tetris has been reset as well with less than 50 downloads, no ranking and the price which used to be $2.99 is now back to $4.99.

WTF

Im able to play Need for Speed but its not showing up in my downloads anymore. So I guess if I delete it then its gone. I would think this would go against the Market rules. Lets hope its an error and EA will fix it soon.

Yeah it definitely will work as long as you have it installed. It's now an issue when moving to a new ROM or device if you don't use Titanium Backup.

This better not be EA trying to pull a fast one...i'm tired of greedy companies trying to screw with my beloved android!

Something else interesting I noticed. Need for Speed Shift was updated to version 1.0.58 from 1.0.57 back in December. That update made the game no longer work on my Galaxy S.

I noticed that the version they just put back up on the market is 1.0.57.

EA what is going on?

So I bought the game and it actually works my Galaxy S like it used to. But I returned it as I refuse to give them more money. I just wanted to give them a bad rating.

When I spoof Verizon Need for Speed says $9.99. When I spoof T-Mobile it shows purchased. Weird.

I've been researching this. I can't speak for the Canuck side but here's my observations:

1. EA removed NFS Shift from the Market, then re-uploaded it with a new price. If you uninstall your current copy, change ROMs, or change phones, you cannot download it again. You have to buy it again at the new $9.99 price point.

2. This seems to be affecting Verizon users, but not Sprint or T-Mobile users. Haven't seen anything on AT&T yet. So, spoofing your market to T-Mobile or Sprint allows you to get the old app again (but, it doesn't work on Galaxy S devices, the "new" one does). Nice money grab by EA.

3. I don't know how to spoof the market. If anyone does, feel free to post. Been looking myself as I like to change ROMs often, but don't want to change as I do play this game actively.

I'm going to try to get ahold of EA and Google for some info. I don't want a refund on my purchase ($1.03 over Christmas). I want my game listed as "purchased" and available for download.

I use an app called Market Enabler to spoof different connections, you can find it on the market. You need to be rooted to use it.

Yeah your totally right about the only version working on the Galaxy S is the Verizon one. But I'm not willing to pay $10 for a game I already paid $5 for. Which was just a few days before they dropped it to $1.

I emailed EA a month ago when the game stopped working and go no response. I emailed them yesterday about this whole new issue, but I'm not holding my breath.

The weird thing is in Canada there was EA Mobile and Electronic Arts Mobile. EA Mobile had four games for sale including NFS Shift. Electronic Arts Mobile just has NFS Shift. Both options were available till a couple days ago when EA Mobile left the Canadian Android market. I have tried from a couple phones and could not find EA Mobile.

I just have this feeling about Electronic Arts Mobile that it is fake, why would they run both. With EA Mobile gone, maybe it is legit, but it doesn't have Tetris, Sims 3 or Fifa and my purchase from EA Mobile is no good with Electronic Arts.

I even tried buying the version of NFS Shift from Electronic Arts and the payment was in Euros, EA is an american company is it not. At any rate the Electronic Arts version does not work with my Galaxy S so I returned.

What a headache.

You will get an automated response, they won't reply to you. :(

Yeah they recommend going to their site and hitting the mobile support link.

The most annoying thing is their is no mobile support in Canada so I had to go to the US site. When sending in a support message they force you to pick a carrier and phone by model number. I spent a couple minutes finding a US galaxy S model number to find their not even listed. Just dumb phones.

EA has no support set up for Android just dumb phones and iPhone's. I sent my question to them with a completely different model listed as it was the only choice so as I said before I'm not holding my breath.

Got a solution.

I got ahold of someone at EA. The department we need is closed today. Here's the number, call tomorrow during "normal business hours."

866-543-5435
Hit option 9 to get to the right department

I received a reference number, and if enough people call in, I think they'll get the hint that they shouldn't screw customers like this.

Nice, thanks man. I will do that.

I tried to get a bunch of Android blogs to post about this but no one has but DroidGamers. It would be nice to have the support of the Android community to have this cleared up.
