EA Mobile no longer on Android Market

So I just did search on the market in Canada and was able to find EA mobile. But the only games listed are FIFA 10 and The Sims 3. Hopefully they will add Tetris and Need for Speed Shift back and double hopefully it will show as purchased.

EA blames Verizon

EA Mobile removes, replaces Need for Speed Shift on the Android Market. | Anythingbutiphone

EDIT: Still no response from any of their press/media relations departments. EA's customer service is hell bent on blaming Verizon for this. I called Verizon, and they gave me half off my next month's bill. I thanked them and tried to turn them down saying that this isn't their issue, but they insisted on not leaving one of THEIR customers hanging. They'll try to contact EA and see what's going on. Just, wow!

What the heck is verizon doing? After I search for EA Mobile in the market I'm seeing tetris but it's listed as $4.99. I hope this wasn't done on purpose.

I didn't know the carriers had any control over the market. I would think this was EA's fault or possibly Google.

It's not the carrier. As Dave said, it's EA or Google. I can't get a comment from Google's media relations, or even their customer support.

Alright folks, bombard this link.

Contact Us - Android Market Help

I sent in a ticket, and they asked me to verify a few things. I verified, and they didn't reply. So, I sent in another ticket, they asked me to verify a few things, and now I'm irked. It seems they don't give a damn once they have your money.

Bombard the link. (and by that, I mean one ticket until replied, from each affected user). We need to show them that this is a real problem.

No, they weren't pulled. They're still up there, but it's like they got reset or something. I own Tetris, and it's on the Market, but it's not acknowledging that I own Tetris. It did that with Need for Speed: Shift as well (not sure about FIFA '10 and The Sims 3, but Sims 3 looks unaffected).

They were pulled then replaced.

EA hat NFS Shift 1.0.58 up. They pulled it and uploaded 1.0.57 (which actually works on Galaxy S-based devices). However, due to the swap, it's not showing prior purchase history.

They also did this with Tetris, though I don't own the game, so I don't know if they also downgraded it.

The most "recent" version of Tetris is 0.0.2552 (before the replacement arrived). The replacement is...exactly the same.

Then I'm not sure what is going on with Tetris, though I have guesses. Still, what I stated about NFS Shift seems to be the case, unless you have an alternate theory.

No idea, but I can still run Tetris (and NFS:Shift), so I'll just be patient until all of this is fixed.

I just wish they would fix the unreadable text boxes in Need for Speed: Shift. That's just annoying.

Of note: on the new Market website, I can log in and see my purchase history. Tetris is listed on there, but it's still not on my phone. Very odd.

Yup, there are two listings for Tetris and NFS. One for Verizon, one for the rest. Even if you purchased the non-Verizon version when it was still on Verizon, you can no longer download it to your Verizon handset. That's where we're all stuck at now.

Also interesting on that Market site is if you search for EA Mobile, you can find NFS listed at $2.99, $9.99 and ~$5.16 all on the same site. Same deal with Tetris and other EA games as well.

I wonder if this is what is causing the problem with the Sims game I purchased on my phone and restored on to my Nook using Titanium. It takes a resource file to work, but won't let me download it. Download won't start.

I have seen quite a few people saying they have issues downloading the files necessary for the Sims 3 to work.

Since I have a working copy I upload the files for anyone who is having this issue.

This will be of no use to you if you don't have a legitimate purchased copy of Sims3.

This is for people who are not able to download the files for the game.

I also suggest that anyone getting the license error to delete their temp folder and replace it with this one and see if that helps.

  • You need to make a folder on your SD card in the Android folder
  • The folder should be called com.eamobile.sims3_na_qwf
  • This is where EA Mobile puts Sims 3, if you bought from Electronic Arts it may be in a slightly different location
  • Once created or if it is already there unzip and put the file folder in that folder

I was planning on copying the files from my phone (where the game works) to my Nook. I just haven't had the time and/or inclination at this point. Knowing where they are on my phone saves me some time. Nice info.

Tetris is now completely off the Market (as far as I can tell).

I checked the web market. It's only been removed for Verizon subscribers.

I've already launched a BBB complaint into this and have gotten conflicting responses from EA. EA is not claiming that they "sold" the rights to Tetris and NFS Shift to Verizon, and that Verizon sets the price. If there were any truth in this, it wouldn't be listed under EA Mobile. Something fishy is going on.
