Same thing happened to my Eris. I also rubbed the remaining black off and actually like how it looks with the silver ear piece. Makes it stand out against other Eris phones.

i did the same thing like the beginning of jan, i got it in november lol. but yea it looks so much better i think. looks like it was supposed to be like that

Looks good N2imagination. My only concern is the particles going into the earpiece and diminishing the sound quality.

Btw, the paint on my Eris' ear piece is coming off too. I noticed it around the 1 month mark but it may have been like that from the beginning, I'm not sure.

I'm beginning to wonder two things: why is it not wearing off on my Eris after two months of daily usage, and for those of you with an Eris that the grill is losing it's color, is it replaceable?

Have any of you asked Verizon reps (the ones not wearing size 27 red and white shoes, a huge round red foam nose and polka-dot suit) if the grill can be replaced in the store?

I am on my 4th (yes that's right, 4th!) Eris and out of the 4, only one didn't wear off (that one being the defective one I had for a single day lol). I am having problems with the current one now so headed back to the store again tomorrow for probably another refurb. Gonna try for a deserved upgrade.

I noticed mine was starting to wear, so I took my thumb and rubbed it off-- I really like how it looks now. Something different.

I hadn't even thought of this. Perfect.

I believe the paint rubbed off in my pocket against loose change and the like - rather than my ear.
