Easier root

I've just been watching you all talk.

So update... it's easy to use a zip signer and cwm and agat will let you flash it. (But that's irrelevant BC you could just flash su if you already had custom recovery)But the stock recovery doesn't seem to like the signed zips. . Sooo I don't know if it needs a special Samsung sign or what (that's what a friend told me he thought). So I will continue to try but no guarantees.

Just want to say thanks for working so hard on this. I'm expecting to get the S2 shortly so I wish you luck man and I'll be checking back here often hoping for success.

glad you are back maybe its back on track. Apache thunder also did this with boost design he may have insight

Yea I know the Guy that did it on the warp. .. supposedly some phones stock recovery only care that it's signed. He told me some phones stock recovery check for more of a manufacturer sign. So that's where I am now

Any progress? Just got my S2 last Sunday and itching to root it the easy way lol. Good luck!

No I've been busy with work and college. Was really discouraged by all my failed attempts to make it work. I'll update if I ever get the zip signed properly.

The kies way isn't hard by the way. Just follow the steps

Thank you! I've honestly never had a device I didn't modify at some point.

I'll definitely end up with this phone being modified again.

Just biding my time until something catches my interest.

I'm to am waiting a bit before I root. I will eventually, that's a given. I'm not afraid of root, as I have had the Prevail and warp1 both rooted, and UN-rooted, and rooted again, so I've done it before, I just wanna familiarize myself with the phone a bit, and sit back and enjoy no reboot or lockup issues or lag issues of any kind for awhile before I decide to do the root thing, so basically I'm just in enjoyment or phone vacation mode right now :).

That's what I did 2... it's always a good idea anyway because when you eventually root, you'll know if you have any problems existent on stock or not

Don't give up. Just think, what if Thomas Edison had given up? Or Alexander Graham Bell? We'd be sitting in the dark right now with no phones lol. Perish the thought!!

What's so bad about using Odin? Its super easy, plus with having a custom recovery tool flashed, you can make nandroid backups, and flash different ROMs, apps, themes, etc.

Nothing is bad about Odin.. in fact it is really easy to use. There are only 2 downsides to it.
1. Requires a computer.( not everyone has one) though I do and am already rooted, making a flashable zip for stock recovery wouldn't be for my benefit.
2. The biggest downfall is its intimidating to those who have never used it, or may have had a previous phone that had a root/ Rom zip that was flashable through stock recovery.

By being able to flash through stock recovery you only need to download the zip to the phone. And then update zip in recovery. It then gives you root- cwm or twrp, and a custom Rom. It basically skips the whole computer / Odin process but gives you the same end result.

I have given up on it temporarily due to work and school. But maybe someone smarter or with more time well figure out how to sign the zip so the Samsung recovery will flash it.

Thanks for your reply selfelevated2. Your points fit my situation perfectly,so I will stay tuned and hope either you or someone else will be able to accomplish this for those of us who would be more comfortable rooting by this method.

That is a computer file not a flashable zip..

Says its in exe format

It is in exe format, but it's basically a zipped up archive file, on l self extracting in exe format.
Normally on that site if you clicke the exe it will come up and ask you to pick a place to extract the file to, and will extract the tar file that's in it. You can then use that in odin or via mobile odin.
I wish they would put a notice that it's the tar file in exe format, then people won't mistake it for an install of some sort.

Lol man I'm so blown. Ive been up all night trying to Get this working. I figured since i couldn't Get the update zip to flash through stock recovery just by signing it i was going to try something new. So i flashed back to stock before the update to fh29...fg31 to be exact. I waited for it to offer me the update then i went into system cache and snatched they're update because we know its already signed to run through stock recovery. I then swapped the files from agats zip i had with the exact same files in the sprint update. Then zipped it back up and threw it where it was. I then tried to flash they're update and it almost went through. It stopped just before it started flashing. But you could tell it made it further then be fore. Maybe it passed signature check but a script might have been there stating what was supposed to be in the update. Or maybe each file in the zip is checked for an md5. I really think someone who knows a little more than me might be able to make this happen.....

I just want to say thanks for taking the time to work on this for those of us wanting to root this way. It's people like you that make this community a community for everyone. Have my fingers crossed that it will happen soon.

Just posted IN ALL THINGS ROOT how to get the FI22 one click . Its at SXTP DEVELOPERS. I have nothing to do with it, just wanted to let ya know there is one. SXTP DEVELOPERS and Garwynn are the people to thank, so stop on over there and thank them.

Nice find, but what myself and others are looking for (judging from the number of hits this thread has had) is a flashable .zip file that will root this phone without using a PC. Some of us either don't have a PC, or even of we have access to one, would not feel comfortable rooting with one, myself included, whether it was one click or many clicks. I admit I'm a caveman lol!

Great find, I wouldnt have found that. I'm sure it will help alot of people. One question though, you'r camera is fine? None of the things he warned tend to happen on the s3 are issues for our phone?
