Root Easy Way to Install the latest OTA? (1.14.652.0)

Ok, so imagine you are in this scenario:

You have run the OTA on a stock rooted/s-off/unlocked Evo V successfully.

You have run the RUU to revert back to the 1.13 version prior to the OTA.

You attempt to install the update OTA and the system assures you that you have the latest version.

What in the heck can be done to update both the radio and system files in one shot easily? I have the complete update in all its glory (/sarcasm) in the original zip file. Unfortunately it cannot be installed via TWRP. Is there a folder that it can be placed in at the root of the phone so that the system now will run the update? Or can anyone make this flashable via the custom recovery? There just seems to be no easy way for someone using stock to get this darned thing installed to bring your stock rom up to version 1.14.652.0.

Have you tried downloading and installing the OTA immediately after flashing the RUU.exe. If your main version (mainver) was reset to 1.13.652.2 by the RUU you should be able to do that.

If you've tried that and it hasn't worked, you might want to check your current mainver by issuing the following fastboot command:

fastboot getvar mainver

I have been trying to manually install the OTA update. I have downloaded the untouched zip file from the forums, renamed to update.zip, placed on root of sd card, booted in stock recovery and selected install update from storage but I keep getting the message " success rebooting, oem-00 " and nothing has happened. Is there a way to install the OTA update on a 100% stock evo v? I don't understand why it won't install the update via stock recovery when its an untouched update

Same issue. I reverted to stock at the weekend but no update no matter how many times I check.

Apparently the downloaded OTA file is not installed the same way as an update.zip. I found this post in the One X forum on XDA, but haven't actually tried it myself. Note that you need root for that procedure so you may need to restore the stock recovery before applying the update.

It still seems to me that the OTA should download and install properly right after the RUU.exe has been run successfully, but I have the Evo 3D so I can't test that. I have done that successfully with the latest GB RUU and the ICS OTA on the 3D, before the RUU for ICS was available.

Perhaps there is a problem downloading the OTA at this point, even with 100% stock?
