Electronic Cigarettes

Having never (knowingly) seen a person vaping, I had no idea there was actually smoke. I must have been associating vaping with "smokeless cigarettes."

Well they are one in the same. There isn't any smoke really. What you are seeing in that picture is water vapor more or less. That is one of the reasons it is referred to as vaping. It is also the reason that it is legal to vape in places where smoking is illegal. No smoke means no second hand smoke.

Here is a youtube video that shows people using e-cigarettes.
This the product sold in most malls and is WAY over priced, IMHO.

You can see that they all produce "smoke", but it is pretty much odorless (some may give off a faint smell, but nothing bad) and isn't harmful like second hand smoke.

Cool.

Have you ever used them in a non-smoking environment? If so, did you have to educate anybody around you?

In Colorado you can't smoke inside most buildings. I always ask before I just start puffing away though. Most bars are fine with it. Some restaurants too. Casinos don't seem to care either. I've had some nasty looks from people, but most don't say anything. The green or blue LED at the end of the ones I used to use usually gave away the fact that it wasn't an actual cigarette. My new PV doesn't even have a noticeable light on it.

I'm mostly asked about it by smokers now. They want to know what it is like and if I like it. I've started carrying around an extra cartridge just for people who want to try it. I have a rubber sleeve over the mouth piece so I'm not spreading germs. I think being able to stay inside when it is 0 outside is a big motivator for people. Once I tell people about the difference in price vs regular cigarettes they are ready to switch. My girlfriend keeps telling me I should open a local shop.

Thats funny... becuase im actually in the process of partnering with someone to open a shop...

Really? I may have to hit you up for some supplier info if I ever go through with it.

Where will your shop be?

We're think northwest burbs of Chicago. We have no clue if we want to go through with it completely but we are already seeking funding options and checking on suppliers ourselves lol.

I used mine in a bar, and our waiter commented on it, asking how I liked it and that his boyfriend wanted to try them. Another friend of mine kind of scoffed when he saw me using one, saying that his impressions of people who use them were just after the "shock factor" of other people seeing them "smoke" inside. Apparently he had been places where people were vaping and being really obnoxious about it.

Lol shock factor. no.. that's not the case at all and I can't believe he would actually think that way. Meh.

A bar as a non-smoking environment seems strange to me (not to non-smoking bar patrons, I suppose ;)).

Come to Colorado. You can't smoke anywhere. I fully expected a face full of smoke when I went into a bar, but there was nothing.

Kansas City bars have been smoke free since 2007 or 2008. I really haven't minded it. I dont come home reeking. Plus, my main bar buddy is a non-smoker and I don't like leaving him alone while I go outside and smoke, so I don't smoke as much when I'm out.

Yeah, we're there several times per year. Boulder mainly, a college town, and other pounts west. We're non-smokers, so the crisp, clean air in Colorado seems right. One of our hangouts in Boulder features a "smoking room" where addicts can puff away as long as they self serve in the main area and take their drinks and food by hand back into the inferno. ;)

They're also typically of MUCH lower quality. (e-Cigs in malls)

I'm going to be about 45 min from Greensburg, IN tomorrow and I'm hoping that Brent will let me come down and visit - I'd like to check this stuff out in person, if possible. Thanks to you and others for all the tips...

I'd shoot him an email. The KGO is a really great device. The batteries are lasting me all day long (15 hours so far) and they stay consistent from start to finish. I also recommend the 1.5 ohm XL dual coil clear cartos that he has, they work really well and are also lasting a full day for me and the cones actually fit over them. Good stuff and a really nice guy to boot. He also has some pretty good juice from what I understand. Good luck.

I filled out his web form - hopefully he gets back to me before I land in Indy...

Edit...he replied. No dice...home-based business...

I kind of figured that based on his YouTube videos. I looked on ECF and have been unable to find a negative review. If you are going to be in IN for a few days you could get everything shipped to your hotel room or ask him to meet you maybe.

I love my KGO, but he also has the E-Power if you are looking for something with slightly smaller and cheaper batteries. I've been hearing great things about those as well. I may buy the parts and just build one myself to see if I like it.
