Root ElementalX Rom

this rom looks amazing. Thank you for sharing this because I always loved eclipse and it looks like nitro really stepped up a level with this rom.

i agree.. it does look amazing.... imll have to try that out after i get miui smoothed out some
 
Loving it so far, very slick! One thing I've found on the Spectrum is the "General UI" settings don't work. FC's every time I press it. Is this a known issue with this ROM on the Spectrum anyone know? Looks like there are some cool features in there I wanna try!

I'm getting the force close on general ui as well. I guess we'll have to wait for an update. Other than that the rom is great and runs pretty smooth.
 
meh! I tried to download 4 times and it kept timing out. Rom looks rad and I want to try it... I'll have to DL to my laptop then transfer, I guess. :/
 
this rom is amazing actually. I can't wait until the general ui works but even with that bug this is my DD now. Nitro has truly become an amazing rom developer and I would now say that he has put himself right there on equal status with CM, AOKP, PA, and PACMAN. Whats the most impressive is that this is version 1.0 of elemental. I'm sure it's only going to get better.

It's quite amazing that this phone has become so widely developed for. Of course we owe 95 percent of that to tdm :p but hey, we still got tons of great roms to choose from now.

Yea, I'm going with it as a DD too. Loving it so far. Couple quirks I noticed today:

BT volume was VERY low when I placed a call while driving today. Could barely hear it with volume all the way up on phone and turned way up in my Durango. Also, around the same time I noticed that, the phone went into landscape mode (i must have tilted it) and would NOT come out of landscape not matter what I did. Had to reboot it.

But those were just minor glitches, nothing to be too worried about compared to all the sick features in this ROM!

Question for others using this or other new ROM's... what are you seeing for battery life and what are you using to help? Anyone using SetCPU or anything and what settings? That is my only realy complaint on any of the 4.2.2 ROMS... battery is pretty bad. Thoughts?

Elemental is an AOSP, so it *should* be a bit better at battery life than CM or AOKP; in my experience, that's usually the case, because there's less tweaking to the framework and it's 'as G-d intended'.

Now, that said... The best performance on the stock/CM kernel is going to be 1.512max, 384min with interactive governor and either CFQ or Noop scheduler. Those settings won't save much battery, though, unless you're comparing it to 'performance' governor.

For true battery savings, get the PimpMyRom app and install V6SuperCharger. Both have tweaks to better battery life, by killing kernal processes and checks that aren't really necessary, but are useful to developers. I'm using both on Pacman and get 2x the battery life I did before I installed them.

**NOTE** I have NOT tested either the app or V6 pack on this rom, so make a nandroid before you start applying the init changes and tweaks.
 
Attempting to install Elemental, phone has been stuck on the X loader screen for at least 15 minutes. Not sure what is going on. :confused:
 
Did that before I posted. Just did a recovery boot and tried reinstalling with a new wipe and such from CW. 12 minutes on the X this go around.

I'm not sure then. Perhaps you got a bad download or it's just not flashing right. I would try downloading the rom again.
 
Everyone who is using this rom I would suggest that we take the bug reports and discussion of this rom over to nitro's personal site. Perhaps we will have more of an effect in reaching nitro with this information by doing that. Plus, I happen to like the dark theming on nitro's forum more anyway :] all this white is painful to look at.
 
Rom looks good and is smooth as hell the but the fc o the settings is a deal breaker for now. I'll probably use it as my daily driver when settings are fixed.
