Root ElementalX Rom

Has anyone used PIE much? I tried messing with it a little but I'm not sure what to do to get the most out of it? I tried messing with the settings but no matter what I do all I get is a few buttons at the bottom of my screen... can't figure out how to add or assign new apps and buttons like I've seen in previews for PIE. What am I missing? Do I need to somehow hide or remove the current dock?

I'm using pie but I haven't assigned any apps to it so I can't answer that.

I did want to let everyone who is wondering know that this rom runs absolutely amazing for me. It's smooth, the battery life is the best I've had on any rom, and it's loaded with features. In the two days I've been running it I've yet to have any issues at all.

Agree! Love the ROM... this build is even more buttery smooth than the original and, yes, I've seen better battery life today for sure.

So, what do you actually use PIE for? I want to use it because it looks badass but I don't know what to do with it LOL...

I don't know about on this rom, but on pac I used it by switching to a large tablet mode which removed the status bar. Then used pie in place of the static status bar. Gave more screen real estate.

so far I just use it for the regular functions it provides like the home button and recent apps. Really I forget it's there most of the time but it's still neat to have :p

Seems like a waste imo. You have a home button on the front of your phone :p

I usually used apex launcher and configure a gesture so that when I swipe up on the phone it opens recent apps.

Yea, that's kind of how I feel... trying to figure out if it's a waste or not... but like IMUCarmen said, it's neat! So I want to use it LOL...

Does the front camera work(doesn't for me on CM, well, it just takes picture after picture until home it)?

Also, how is bluetooth? Has been working rather well for me on CM.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's intended to be an alternative for devices without hardware keys (tablets some newer phones that are coming out). If you have the buttons, it's a bit pointless unless you're using it to replace the status bar imo.

Have you looked at LMT? It's on XDA, a lot more configurable than pie, can change it to apps, scripts, etc. It's more useful since you can actually set it up to be useful, not just redundant to the hardware buttons.

No, but I will check it out thanks!

I take back what I said. This new update completely changed the battery life. It definitely tops CM10.1, AOKP, and PacMan.
Reminds me of the ICS battery life...

I actually had my best battery life back in the gingerbread days and after the ICS update my battery became junk and has stayed that way since. But I noticed today that my battery is lasting a lot longer than it has since the ICS update last october. I'm not sure what nitro may have done but it's definitely noticeably better. Not to mention that it's pretty smooth even without any tweaks.

Are you sure there's no tweaks?

It's a kang. Why bother kanging if you aren't tweaking?

:p

Yep, I must be a noob... I just don't get it. I can't tell a difference between this and cm10.1 except for a dark settings menu and a few settings

What else?

thats because cm, aokp, pacman, elemental x, are all based on stock android therefore they all look very much the same but have different features. You aren't going to see a great deal of difference on the surface.

I personally find that this runs the smoothest and has had the fewest bugs and the best battery life. I also like the message app theming among the other theming done throughout. I also like the extra features this rom has that the others don't.

Won't let me run swiftkey3. Anyone else notice this? when I click on the app, I get... "unfortunately, settings has stopped" and it knocks me back to the home screen. This is the only app that seems to be doing that. I've tried to reinstall it to no avail
