Help Email settings

Lurker
Hello,

I need some help with my email settings. Now I did manage to set up everything so it works, but with an annoying glitch.

My university email uses different email name and username. Example, my email address is

myfirstname.mylastname@university.ca

and my username is formatted as : abcd1234

In my Thunderbird client, email and username are separate fields, so no issues with authentification. But in my android phone, there is only the email field. The only way I can get authentification to work is by using abcd1234@university.ca format. But here's the glitch : when I answer emails from my phone its uses the wrong address to send, which confuses the recipients.

Is there any way to have a username and email address that are different? Or any ideas for a workaround?

Android 4.0.3 on a Galaxy S2. Imap protocol.

Thank you

Hi, and welcome to Android Forums!

I only use Gmail, but have a poke around in the settings for the account in the email client for a "Reply-To:" option; this is a standard SMTP header that allows the user to specify a different address to that of the actual account.

I'm sorry I can't be of more specific help. :(
