Ender's Game

I doubt movie will be as good experience as reading a book. I think book hides the big reveal pretty well. Not sure how it's going to be for the movie. I would say it would work ok if they tune down simulation games effects, but Im sure they will add way too much CGI.

I'm positive that they are going to go with sequel after that, how would it work out? not sure, but it might be more interesting than the first movie.

Well i've never read the book but the movie does look interesting , i will watch it because it's Sci-fi :D

Well the book is usually always better then the movie so I suggest that you read it, but this does look pretty amazing visually.

From the scenes I have seen, I can recognize them from the book......so we will see how true to the script they kept to the book.

A few more weeks..........can't wait!!!!!!!!

Watching latest trailers, and I'm being disappointed. I do not think they will be able to deliver the whole end twist. Point of the whole book was Ender advancing at strategy and tactical games, aliens were not there until the end. Also book involves great deal of Ender's emotional conditions which will be missed too. Books are not about special effects and thats great. From what I'm seeing it seems just another action movie.

If movie turns out good, which I think it won't, it would be interesting to see them making "Ender's shadow"

well that has always been the issue with most books to movies. i think too many people will make the comparison to the book which is natural, but i think it is extremely hard to get everything represented from a book when made into a movie. there are only a few ovie translations of a book that were able to get the feel and story of the book.......the most recent movies for me is the Lord of the Rings trilogy.....save for the ending.....LOL

as for this movie the countdown is now 4 days to opening!!!!!!

i'm gonna have an open mind and just let the movie happen and try and not be too over analytical about it.

I'm going to hope that it will be as good as the book. Certainly some books are very hard to translate onto screen and I think Ender's Game is one of this books. With great help of cgi, after so many years it has been out (more than 25 years), its only now possible to make a movie.

My biggest concern is the "what could go wrong" factor. I read The Hunger Games series on a suggestion before setting the movie. After reading the book I felt that the movie didn't even begin to do the book justice. That is, it sucks HORRIBLY in comparison!

I'm scared that Ender won't be developed as a character, that the viewers won't understand how/why he is the way he is, that it'll do to me what The Hunger Games comparison did.

I'll still watch it though! If it's HALF of what the book is, it'll do well!

Wife just told me that she's excited to see this movie. She thought it was the next part of Hunger Games. :p

yeah that is why sometimes it is better to read the book after you watch the movie. knowing the book sometimes ruins the movie. i loved hunger games, the movie. i have never read the books so i do not have a biased from the book.

i really want to love this movie.....so i'm going into enders game with an open mind and not be very analytical.

I just took the wifey to see it. She (having never read the book) said that she could follow it and that she enjoyed it. She said the article I linked above, in her opinion, was inaccurate.

Wife was able to see it because most theatres had 8pm shows last night. I was able to see it earlier as a "perk" of my day job. ;)

I can make you any review you want, it all depends on how many Benjamins are going to end up in my pocket. That's why reviews vary.

Unfortunately (and varying tastes). :(

ok so i just saw the movie and i loved it.

i think the movie captured the mood and feelings of what ender was going through as the story progressed.....of course they could not fit everything from the book into the movie, but i thought that they did a great job at adapting the book to the big screen.

i think they are doing imax for this as well.....might have to check that out.

Imax was worth it for this one (not the case for all though). :)

I enjoyed it but I have to re-read the book. Were all the side characters that shallow and one-dimensional in the book? I can't remmeber.

I watched it yesterday and I think it was not bad I would give it 7.5 out of 10, but it was missing way too many interesting things. Maybe they are going to release the extended version on blu ray and DVD later on.

Spoiler:
-They don't explain why they choose Ender and not his brother. In book his brother was present until the end.
-As far as I can remember, Ender invented many zero gravity moves which help him win and gain some good reputation.
-Ender was a prodigy as well as Bean, it's not clearly seen in movie.
-Ender's break down needs more explanation, they totally miss the part that they made him play matches so many times a day that it broke him down.
-I don't think they mentioned why he was leading the army. In book they state that enemy's planet was located so far away that it took years to get to it, and that is why it was remotely controlled.
