Eris 2.1 leak Bug's and Fixes

All of these threads are getting very long, very fast! Can't find the post from Caddy...anybody have Caddy's link for 2.1? DM would be appreciated lest it be lost in the tide yet again lol. Cheers :)

it's in the, 2.1 when sticky thread

Actually I had alot of problems with Handcent on 2.1 as well as a few other people....
Like what ? Like others, I've had failed delivery reports using Handcent. So, I switched to the default messaging app. As noted earlier, I still get failed delivery reports...

Here is a bug I get not mentioned here:

I randomly have the "choose a program" screen pop up for any function I have more than one program for. It is must frustrating because it does it with the home screen. I press home and instead of taking me home it gives me the screen where I have to choose between home and HTC Sense. Even though I click "Always use this program", I still get the screen once in a while.

I have been on 2.1 since it leaked and have not had this happen. Maybe reinstall 2.1 again on your phone and see if that helps.

Anyone experiencing issues with the new navigator in 2.1? When i'm using the navigation and if i receive a phone call my phone acts up and i can't answer the call and of course the back button doesn't work so i'm unable to exit the navigation unless i press the home button
Mine works fine so far. While navigating a call comes in. I can accept or decline. If I accept I pick the phone off the mount and start the conversation. While conversing the text to speech still comes in my ear along with the other party. You just have to screen one of the other out in your brain. When the conversation is over I end call and it returns to the Nav screen. I had to resist the urge to start hitting buttons because there was some lag as it switched modes. I haven't tried going to speakerphone when the call comes in yet to make it a hands free deal.

Handcent sucks. Just use Chomp. It now can do MMS. Chomp > Handcent, it's faster and less buggy. AND no more send errors :D.

I did search for this as a bug and didn't see it listed in this post. Did anyone notice Autosync automatically turning off on its own? It has happened quite a few times. I will investigate to see if something else is turning it off but thinking that it is unlikely.

W4lly it will work.. i found a away.. and then i reflashed yesterday and it did it its self. ....

i posted how i got it to work the first time... its in here a few pages back

i found it....

its a weird way to do it but it worked ...

]Ok here we go I got the facebook sync to work with contacts list,

Step one, log out of the fb app.

Step two, settings> accounts & sync remove, yes remove the facebook for htc sync.

Step three add a new facebook for htc acct, log in to it, it wont sync yet

Step four log in to the fb app

Step five, go to contact list give it a few mins go about your usual linking to fb

It worked for mine. Enjoy

Not working...:-/.

I think it's scared because i have like 1k plus friends :-/

I think I've found the reason behind a bug I've been having, maybe others have, too. When receiving a text message and using the notifications to open it, it causes a force close on the message app. I'm fairly certain the force close is caused by rotating and activating the G-Sensor to landscape before the message is loaded.

In 1.5 I would open the message and rotate my phone as the text was opening. It worked fine. I noticed I get a lot of force closes in 2.1, but today it hit me that it happens when I rotate the phone before it loads the message, which I almost always do.

Anybody else seeing this happen?

Dang! I really liked handscent before 2.1 but if Chomp is problem free then I guess I'll give it a try!

Really the only problems I'm still having.

Thanks.... yes makes sense I should have just searched for developer. was just trying to be helpful wish I had more to offer to people who help me so much.

have you guys done factory resets yet or rebooted at least? i want to make sure it is a real bug and not a quirk before it is added to the list.

I don't think this authentication is a bug rather done on purpose to protect the user. May not be a bad thing. Is annoying though. So not a bug is my opinion.

I also agree here.

I was thinking the same thing, but the wording of the message makes me think that it is not. If it is, it's a good idea in case your phone is stolen, and you don't have it locked.

Guess I have to find Chomp somewhere else cause I don't see it on the market either.

Hope it's OK to post this and that I do it right? Here is where I found Chomp.

Download chompSMS 2.19

I don't belive thats an actual warez site... just freeware site, haven't seen any "paid" stuff hacked for redistribution on that site. The point of this type of website and many other version tracking sites is to collect valid software and their previous versions. Which is legal and fair. IF you don't like the latest version you can just stay put with an older version.

i feel like if you run a bunch of app's or download a bunch you need a tas killer? i find that my phone or used to i had about 100+ app's on the phone before it slowed down and had no more memory and lagged a lot so i'd open up a task killer and kill everything. any tips?

I have to be honest, I had Advanced Task Killer on my phone when it was 1.5, and again when I upgraded to 2.1. After doing some reading on why you shouldn't use one, I thought I'd un-install it and see how it runs without it. Well, it runs well enough that I now consider "task killers" a useless app. My phone's never been faster since I STOPPED using the task killer.
