Eris 2.1 leak Bug's and Fixes

My guess is since the 2.1 update was not an OTA Rom sent out by VRZ that there is something missing from the leaked Rom. I suspect all will be good with an official update.

as I have been reading through the 20+ pages of this thread, I'm seeing a lot of similar issues with other apps as well.

So of course there all the bugs with the HTC more widgets link-problem I have personally noticed and am still waiting to be fixed-and the cities coming up incorrectly-mine is usually right but every so often comes up as "caliente"-but i have noticed a few that are not so widely talked about. When using the flan gallery apk, the 3D picture gallery ported over from the Nexus One, ive had issues going straight to the camera. I haven't seen the landscape lag that everyone is talking about however. I have also had issues with the HandCent SMS. I refuse to use the stock messaging app for lack of customization. I love HandCent but have noticed a small bug. When sending a batch message FC continually pops up.

Overall i love the newest leak. phone runs much smoother, no more FC when using navigation. animated weather looks so much cooler now. love the new UI for the settings and the powerbar widget.
I only have one question. when, if ever, will this version be rooted? ive think i saw someone on here saying that this version may be impossible to root?

Its been rooted. Look in the everything rooted forum for the Eris. But if you went straight to the OTA leak, then no, at this time it isnt rooted. Im on it and love it. Only bugs I have are the known ones. No pics in gmail (can be worked around though through POP3). No FC's on me yet but I finally put it down after tweaking it and removng stuff so we shall see after this weekend.

Had 2.1 Leak, and now NEW 2.1 Leak.

Facebook contacts won't show up/sync. This is weird because -MY- personal contact card pops up with the little "f" logo on it and with my default picture. Went to view, see Facebook contacts checked. Went on Facebook on computer, accounts, applications and made sure HTC Sense for Facebook was enabled. My "Live" folder has all my Facebook contacts.

For some f***ing reason though, it won't sync. In Accounts and Settings, it will flash from "Syncing" to "Cancel Sync" a few times, but then stops. I tried just leaving my phone alone with the screen on no-sleep mode overnight with 3g on.

/problem

This same exact thing happened to me too. What I did was to log into facebook from my widget. After that it had all facebook contact pictures.

Im not about to read through 1274 posts to see if anyone mentioned this, but to my delight they fixed the suggestion box for google search (soft button). This was buggy on original leak. So we got that going for us, which is nice.

Hey, they did! I didn't notice till you mentioned it. (I rarely use that.)

I swear you people are just lazy. :p

I'm lazy too. I was wondering if in the 2.1 leaks the annoying text-count is still right there in the text field when using the keyboard.

Ok, first bug popped up for me...anyone notice that if you go to Settings -> Sound & Display -> Phone Vibrate and uncheck it, it will re-enable on its own?

Is this after a reboot or something? Because I am not seeing the same thing. Just tested it.

I had a friend call me who I had set a custom ringtone for, phone used my default. I checked the settings after call and his details did have the ringtone I had selected.

edit:
I just created a new google contact using my home phone, set a custom ringtone, and it still used the default ring, tried again creating the contact as an actual phone contact, same thing, uses the default ring.

also noticed, that once you miss a call, after that it doesn't ring anymore till you clear the missed call notifications? anyway to change that behavior?

edit 2:
I thought maybe the problem might be because I was using a ringtone I had uploaded to the phone, so I tried one of the default droid ring tones, still uses the default ringer.

and I still can't find any setting to make it ring on successive missed calls.

so after messing with this thing testing ring tone settings, I am giving up for the night before I toss my shiny new phone out the window... something as basic as ringing after a missed call should be a no brainer!

Battery drained 30% in two hours this morning. Spare Parts battery information is telling me "running 100%". I've never had this happen before.

Are you sure the drainage is true drainage and not a calibration issue?

I don't know. I've never seen 100% running time before. VizBattery widget has been pretty accurate.

The only program I have used recently that I usually don't was WikiMobile. I removed that so we'll see what happens.

I may have to try the Airplane Mode on/off trick and see what that does.

Frustrating since it just happened today and I need maximum battery usage today.

Update:
A restart and the airplane mode on/off solved the problem. Down to 15% running time.

I don't know if it was the restart or the airplane mode trick.

This is happening to me too. Seems to happen after I miss a call and then I have no audible sounds from the phone including the volume rocker. Can anyone confirm this is also happening to them? It seems to be a combination of your problem and badfrogs.

I just got the dialer bug where you try and make a call and nothing happens. No dial tone, no ringing, nothing. This is the first time I've had it happen on the new 2.1.

On the original 2.1 it would happen and all the time.
