Eris 2.1 leak Bug's and Fixes

Since having my calendar awake time issues I have stopped the calendar sync and noticed when I reboot I don't get asked. Someone want to stop the auto sync on their calendar reboot and confirm? Might be a clue to my issue and be a fix for the login issue.

YEEESSSS!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Now we'll see how long it lasts, lol!

EDIT: Spoke too soon, did another restart and it's back. I have everything unchecked under Sync other than Gmail. Looks like we need to find another solution.

Before I make the switch I am reading through all 20pages. Here are the things I am copying and pasting here for my own Info:

1. Verified apps working : ebuddy , google goggles, maps 4.0, greed, locale, Navigator, Pandora, weatherbug elite(installed from backup)Over all I am very very happy

2. Do a *22899. This will run through all the 228 options with no input required

3. Q: does chomp make the native txt popup stop? i'm still getting double popups with handcent.

A: you fix that just like you did in 1.5, go into the native messaging app and the go to settings and disable notifications

4. Ok here we go I got the facebook sync to work with contacts list,

Step one, log out of the fb app.

Step two, settings> accounts & sync remove, yes remove the facebook for htc sync.

Step three add a new facebook for htc acct, log in to it, it wont sync yet

Step four log in to the fb app

Step five, go to contact list give it a few mins go about your usual linking to fb

...and it seems if i open a bunch then go to task killer i barely have any free memory available. my phone starts to go slow then i am like ughh i have to open it up and kill all or kill certain things. i tried going with out it but it just seemed like the phone was always getting laggy.
Eventually the Linux kernel will unload processes from memory when they haven't been used recently enough. How long is that ? My phone routinely gets down to ~24mb free RAM... It feels sluggish so I know I need to launch my task killer. I could wait for the kernel, of course.

go to settings>sync>google (or gmail or whatever) and uncheck the calendar and try, just unchecking them within the calendar settings removes them from your view I think, but they are still "there" and syncing

Did that, still have the sign in issue.

Do Nexus One users have to login at every reboot ? What about other 2.1 users ? If the don't, I'd question if it's "by design".

I thought it was good thinking originally, but then if it was by design, it would do it every time you reboot, not sometimes. I think it also would not reference an error but just ask nicely.

Right.
It's not by design.

Unless.... maybe they put in annoying, but non-harmful, bugs in the OS just so they can then fix it later and look like they are responsive to user's needs!! Clever...

I don't know about purposely putting in bugs, but in any scheduled build there'll be things that won't make it under the wire -- perhaps this is one of them planned for the first minor update?

I get the relogin prompt, but it's the only problem since the reset/reinstall/reprogram last Saturday...

So I've been having the failed to send txt but it really did problem, so I dialled *228 and chose option 2 and it started programming, but then it randomly stopped and said programming has failed. Am I doing something wrong?

ok i gotta see how im going to like this battery on this phone, i just got it today.

My battery life is way better after I updated. On 1.5 my battery was usually at the dreaded 14% by 11 pm and I unplug my phone at 8 am every morning. Now with 2.1 by 11 pm my battery life is about 50-60% and thats with automatic sync and gps turned on, which I kept off on 1.5. But we've all had different results.

yeah i know every device is different i learned from having tons of previous smartphones but I guess ill just have to see how it plays out, just wait for a lil since i just got my phone for the official update...and if it doesnt come soon then i will make the jump.thanx for the input though.

Tee00 -- I'm pretty new here as well, but got my Eris first week Dec and worked with all the battery tips for 1.5. There are also battery considerations when going to 2.1, but if managed, better. I hope you're asking about 2.1, as that's the purpose of the thread. Look in the Eris Tips and Tricks thread if not.

When I first installed 2.1, without a factory reset or *228, it ate battery life like mad -- the first few hours after install, it got down to 40% without doing a thing but rearranging my homepage and a little non-streaming surfing.

Remained bad until I reset the phone (essentially making it a blank of the latest 1.5 build), programmed it with *228 opt 1, reinstalled the PB zip, then *228 opt 2. After that, initially thirsty... but both bars and battery life over a day got much better, never below 40% over an entire 12 - 14 hr day. I suppose it has a lot to do with what apps you have loaded and use, but I vote that 2.1 is more efficient with battery than 1.5 if you install properly. ;)

can someone tell me how the battery life is on 2.1?

it seems to be hit or miss with folks. if i use the phone a ton then the battery obviously drains quicker. But I use Touchdown to sync my exchange email for work, have facebook updates, gmail coming in at all times and throughout the course of a day I don't have to charge the phone.

Airplane mode is a real life saver if I'm going somewhere that I know I don't have service. I keep it on during my work hours because I don't get service there and it only drops 1% over 8 hours.

I like to sort my browser bookmarks by most used. That setting doesn't stick in 2.1.

I just had to reboot because web pages weren't loading all the way and I didn't have to re-login.
