Eris 2.1 leak Bug's and Fixes

The layouts stayed the same for me, but i found that if i switch back n forth a lot, Sense would start crashing and i'd have to reboot the phone. Now i'm just sticking with Home until i get bored with it

That's my plan too, since I'm enjoying the better battery life. But in case I wanted to compare back to Sense, I wanted to make sure that I wouldn't have to re-do all my shorcuts and widgets on Home.

Thanks!

Once I noticed this thing made phone calls also I have noticed the dialer lag that makes you want to stomp on your phone.

Clearing history also made my dialer "snappier"(thanks caddy) and will be trying the trimmer also to report back.

The only other real problem I've been having that I can think of(that I haven't worked out) is when the proximity sensor kills the screen during a call and I lower the phone to open the pad or such the phone will not turn back on till I hit the end button which also ends my call. Anyone else with that one?

I have that problem as well, but only some of the time. Last time that happened I hit the send button, and it turned the screen back on without doing anything else.

Yeah doesn't happen to me all the time either....seems like it's only when I need to get to the dialer pad quick. and I shouldn't say that I have to hit the end button to make it come on. It's just that in a panic I hit the end button. Next time I will try the send button. thanks

On 1.5, Hitting the trackball is the documented way to wake the phone when on a call. It is stated explicitly that hitting the end/power key to wake the phone will end the call.

I think this behavior was changed in MR2 so that End first wakes, then a second press hangs up. In any case this is the behavior in 2.1. (End should wake the phone rather than hang up.)

Those were my intentions...to wake and then end. but when it won't wake up and I press end...It ends and wakes up all at the same time. But no biggie as long as I can push trackball or send.

I know it's been mentioned a lot lately...but aside from the gmail login issue, the only issue I have had after 2 weeks is making a call. And it's starting to get really, really annoying.

Still happy I upgraded, but the lag when using the dialer is over 20-30 seconds now...dials random numbers that I didn't click when I go into it, etc.

Really, really buggy dialer and people application.

I love the Eris, love 2.1 (no issues) but i have been saying since I got this phone in October - the dialer is a disgrace. I mean the f'ing thing is a cell PHONE and it sometimes can barely make or receive calls.
I've seen a number of posts about dialer problems but I have had none. I also don't load a bunch of apps and am wondering if that might be an issue? I have the gmail login deal at reboot, but I wouldn't even call that a bug.

Your problem does seem to be a little worse than most. I would start with an occasional reboot if you don't already do so. and then follow the tips already recently discussed. They are working for me. Seems that when the lag problems get really bad as you stated, they get way better with a reboot.

The developer of the Call Log Trimmer must have heard us talking and updated the app to now allow zero calls in the log. The next lowest is 5. Hope this fixes the dialer lag!

Edit: the updated version doesnt seem like it is remembering the settings...

Edit 2: it remembers the settings if you also check the individual numbers option too.

Edit 3: ok, i think i figured it out. After choosing the number if contacts to keep, you have to hit the home button, not the back button.

So bank of america app stopped working. It worked fine for a while after 2.1, but now it can never connect to my account, no matter how I'm connected to the internet. Tried reinstalling, soft reset, network settings...

I logged on to my BAC acc't with the browser. Putting in my ID and PW. The site recognizes you as a mobile device hence the same screens and choices you had with Market app. You'll probably have to answer a security question. Bookmark the site and log off. I added the BAC shortcut to my screen and voila. Happiness.

My assumption is the OTA 2.1 will fix this?

Still lagging with the caller. Restoring my phone, hopefully doing a fresh one again (first time since the leak) will make my facebook contacts work too.

Can someone repost the 2.1 leak kernal number or build number. Over night my phone powered down , while it was on charge. And this morning it seems a bit faster, and some of the leak bugs are gone. gmail sign in problem is gone and so is the text problems.

Thanks

That's interesting, if I understand your post; are you saying you might have received another update OTA while the phone was charging over night?

I may have misunderstood.

Well before I go saying I received an update I wanted to compare kernel versions and build. My Kernel is 2.6.605.2 cl 134869 and software is 2.26.605.2

I'm use to windows mobile phone powering down overnight while on charge.. I used cooked roms on them and made them funny from time to time.

But I've never had an android phone power down overnight.. and like I said it seemed a bit different this morning.

It was real laggy yesterday and I had to reboot it several times. I was having the sound issue, text message lag and all. This morning when I found it powered down I turned it on and didn't get the gmail password prompt. The screen brightness seems a tad different and all the lag issues I had yesterday are gone.

This is more than interesting, now.

If you had been rebooting to try to resolve lag issues, etc, and that was not working, then it powered off during over night charge and the issues went away, that almost certainly spells update. But I'm not a geeky type on these phones; perhaps there is another explainable reason.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out, Autocrafts.

Both of those numbers match mine, and I'm still running the 2.1 update that I installed the morning after the leak happened. Pretty positive that I haven't received any OTA updates.

Me too. And I'm stlll having the daily sound issues--losing all incoming and outgoing sound ability. Reboot fixes it till the next time it happens. Never know what causes it.
