Help Eris cricket MMS/WEP

well i decrypted the apns.xml and wrote the correct cricket data into it for mms. I then tried to rebuild the apk using apkbuilder. apparently apkbuilder will not re-encrypt the xml packet or I am doing something wrong.

Does anyone know how to correctly rebuild an apk and recompile the xml files? Do I need to use aapt?

I'm guessing here but I bet you have to do something like this I found this on another thread on here. "you have problems, instead of extracting/repackaging the .apk file, just open it up in a zip program and drop the files into it, replacing them"

you cant do that with xml files, after they have been converted to xml and edited, they need to be converted back to adroids binary xml format. That is what I haven't figured out how to do.

Any word on this yet? I too, am just biding my time until someone smarter than me figures out how to solve this stoopid proxy problem.

Seriously...I am getting a little pissed. I know someone out there can make my Eris work on Cricket with full functionality. Why does no one want to help? I will f'n pay someone. I don't care.

I wonder if these APN's are the key to 'Full Functionality' on Cricket, like some people boast the ability to do.

I still dont' believe that Cricket's proxy will even ALLOW anything other than http/https port 80 traffic to go through wap.mycricket.com:8080, BUT, if I am wrong, I think I might best look through the APN's here to find where full functionality can be set up. Think so?

If that were true, then my Mogul that I used with full functionality for the last 2 years on Cricket wouldn't have worked. And it did...so it is NOT crickets proxy, it is Android's system that is hindering our full functionality.

I am pretty sure after pulling some .xml files and .db files from the system folder that we need to edit a few of them to get the proxy to be recognized...but I am no pro, so I could be way off....

I have HTC Incredible working on Alltel. But Pic msg is not. I copy this from that backup program from a alltel android hero with my number programed into it. And restored it to my htc incredible. The pic msg is still not working. :(

I get msg unable to send "unspecified."

I hope someone can help me.

Thanks,

I know this is an old post but for others looking for a solution use

Proxymator, or Proxydroid (most apps will work with one or the other)
Proxymator seems to work with everything but you have to restart it every time you reboot your phone. Proxy droid is automatic but doesnt work with every app

I JUSAT GOT IT

I JUST GOT IT RIGHT NOW FIRST TRY

here it is:

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' standalone='yes' ?>
<apns>
<apn name="CDMA" numeric="00000" mcc="000" mnc="00" apn="0" user="null" server="null" password="null" proxy="null" port="" mmsproxy="" mmsport="" mmsprotocol="" mmsc="" type="*" />
<apn name="Production" numeric="00000" mcc="000" mnc="00" apn="1" user="YOUR10DIGITCRICKETNUMBER@mycricket.com" server="null" password="cricket" proxy="null" port="null" mmsproxy="wap.mycricket.com" mmsport="8080" mmsprotocol="2.0" mmsc="http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms" type="mms" />
<apn name="Android" numeric="310995" mcc="310" mnc="995" apn="internet" user="*" server="*" password="*" proxy="null" port="null" mmsproxy="null" mmsport="null" mmsprotocol="null" mmsc="null" type="null" />
</apns>

done.

Just edit your XML file with mmsproxy=wap.mycricket.com and the corresponding port to 8080 and user=myphonenumber@mycricket.com and password=cricket

DONE.

Before changing _any_ of these settings, I was able to get one picture through to her phone (and another random old one from a couple weeks ago got through at the same time somehow) with the Verizon apn settings in there.

I just set these settings, made sure Mobile Web still works (it does) and sent a picture to her phone, and from her phone.

Everything 100%.

It was that easy. There's a kid charging $$ to do this on the Droid. I'm going to blow up his spot.

I'll e-mail you the xml file if you want. But just right click the .xml file, hit Edit, and set those settings.

these apn settings should work for ANY phone on a cricket network right? not just the phone being discussed?
