ok im having trouble with eris master app, do i put it on my phone some how?
i know i must sound bothersome with all my dumb questions but whats adroid sdk and whats roms and how do i flash zip files? someone please help ty
I know we will likely get reprimanded for discussing the EVO here, but I too am looking for info re: the EVO and getting it on Cricket (or even the Incredible for that matter).
The Eris Master Application is a Windows application. You run it on your regular computer. You use the cable from HTC (or an alternative mini-USB data capable cable) to connect your phone to your computer.
ok i did everything posted but once i restart i dont get a prompt to allow or anything like that. Then i try to go to The Market place and get a pop up that says "ATTENTION--A NETWORK ERROR HAS OCCURED. RETRY, OR CANCEL AND RETURN TO THE PREVIOUS SCREEN.". It shows a 1x on my HTC HERO(for cricket) during all this and once i exit and let the phone sit for about 10 sec it goes back to evdo.
am i doing something wrong or did i miss something?
btw here is my specs
HTC HERO(sprint version)on cricket
firmware=2.1 french toast
kernel version=2.6.29-godmode-oc-bfs toast@oldschool #89
build number= French Toast 2.1
software number=r 2.27.651.5
PLEASE HELP! i dont mind just having WAP(as the MMS didnt work either)..the telephony.db thing. But i would love to have google maps up and running.
You need to get the Autostart app from Market. It's free.
Once you have the Autostart app, and you've done everything else (like put autostart.sh and u2nl where it should be), install this app, and reboot your phone.
I've attached it to this message. Download it, and put it on your phone (put it in your /android-sdk-windows/tools folder) by using
adb install Autostart.apk
adb reboot
Let me know how that works.
and now there are Autostart.sh setups for Revol and others. Just go to
whiterabbit.org and download the pre-compiled u2nl setups. They're all in his .zip file.
What ROM are you on? The latest Sprint 2.1 build?
A DamageControl ROM would work great. Those are very clean.
You're not on Froyo or anything, right?
These files are pretty basic, and there isn't that much to it. Download some working APNs, and put the .xml file IN the APNBackupAndRestore folder on your SD card.
You can't do APN Backup OR Restore if your SD card is mounted on your computer.
Even when the APNs work, it takes a bit sometimes for MMS to start working. Randomly, it'll start kicking in. I don't know quite why.
And *228 won't have anything to do with that. With GSM phones, the APNs have everything to do with the network. Here, bad APNs (or the wrong ones) typically wont' do too much damage. Having NO APNs does suck, but you can correct that before rebooting your phone by downloading an appropriate .xml file and putting it on your SD card and restoring APNs.
I attached an .xml file with working Cricket APNs. Try renaming this file from .txt to .xml, then putting it in the APNBackupRestore (or whatever it's called) folder on your SD card, then using it to Restore these. They should work.
You can get my newest flash here:
Cricket / MetroPCS Web/MMS Flash 7/19 - xda-developers
Should work for everyone and if not simply let me know and ill adjust it when i have free time
Feel free to link to that thread or the file contained to make the process simpler for others in need
Just make sure to give credit to the members of HoFo motodroid team who found the original solution. My work is all based off theirs and put into an easy to use flash.
FOR ANYONE that Cricket is not working right now, just in the past couple of days, they changed their server. SO... to re-refer to Token's thread, flash this:
Cricket / MetroPCS Web/MMS Flash 7/22 - xda-developers
This didn't work for me...
I am in Portland OR. I lost data on Sunday, and went crazy trying to figure it out. Flashed the above, and still didn't work. This morning, it resolved itself. I don't know what happened, but some people may have issues and just need to be patient.
I am in the Portland area as well and this flashable zip did indeed fixed any and all issues.
Maybe there was a bit of a delay in yours taking effect.
Chris
Hello, am new to this forum. All I can say is there is a HUGE AMOUNT OF BRAINNIAKK going
on here. I have an Eris which I recently had Flashed to Cricket. I get 3G internet as well
as wi-fi. I can send and receive text msgs. Now, I can receive pics, but can't send them.
I cant access the Apps Store except with wi-fi. The GPS does not work on 3G. It will work
on wi-fi, but what good is that. Is this common with a fully flashed Eris to Cricket?
Thanks for any ideas...
You need root for this full functionality to work without the broadband trick.
There are other threads, in general about this, but this is huge. By using methods by the Droid and other phones, this kid did this with an Eris. I take no credit for this, but I have been hunting for this for a long time, messing with iptables, messing with proxy's and APN's, and have been unsuccessful. This is a modified/fixed (by me) version of what token419 posted on Howard Forums, no longer a direct quote.
This is without the broadband trick (you don't need it), and is good for FULL functionality, just get a Cricket plan that involves 'web'!
Thanks, to token419 from Howard Forums (and those who helped him)
NOTE: All of the things in the following threads must still be done to get your Eris on Cricket FIRST, and to get MMS working (before or after, doesn't matter, token419's 'web and mms' flash MAY do this for you, I have no confirmation one way or another)
On Cricket to start with: http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/40266-eris-cricket-wireless.html#post309039 (scroll up and down a few posts for all the info)
MMS: (you don't need to do this - only if the flash doesn't work) http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/51990-eris-cricket-mms-wep.html#post432287
At your own risk:
EVERYTHING BELOW HERE CAN BE REPLACED WITH TOKEN419'S FLASHABLE ZIP FOR WEB (feel free to use his 'mmsandweb' one, but I don't have personal confirmation that it works. If you flash the 'mmsandweb' one and your phone DOESN'T work to send/receive MMS, then use my MMS tutorial a few lines above):
Put that on your SD card, boot into recovery, make a nand backup, and flash zip from SD card (and choose the .zip file you just put on the sd card).
Godspeed.
But, whether token419's flash works for you or not, here are the instructions that CREATED that flash: (YOU DON'T NEED TO DO ANY OF THIS IF YOU'VE USED THE FLASH, THIS IS JUST FOR REFERENCE, AND IN CASE YOU NEED TO DO IT 'MANUALLY'!!
Requirements:
Rooted Rom
Autostart (Root) from android market (free)
u2nl.zip from white rabbits site whiterabbit.org (hit Android stuff at the bottom, then get the pre-compiled Droid binary - Eris is included in that file)
Following Brandon's Guide and replace the internet portion with the steps listed below
Step 2. Setting up
What you need: u2nl.zip from white rabbits site whiterabbit.org
install Autostart (Root) from android market
Unzip the u2nl.zip to your androidsdk/tools folder so that u2nl and autostart.sh are in your androidsdk/tools folder. (use the autostart.sh that's in the Eris folder, not the one in the Droid folder!)
adb shell su
(look on phone to push 'Allow' or 'Always Allow' if it pops up - if not, then move to the next line)
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
cd /data/
mkdir opt
chmod 0777 /data/opt/
chmod 0777 /system/bin/
exit
adb remount
adb push autostart.sh /data/opt/autostart.sh
adb push u2nl /system/bin/u2nl
adb shell
chmod 0777 /data/opt/autostart.sh
chmod 0777 /system/bin/u2nl
reboot
click always allow on the prompt to allow the Autostart app to run at system startup
you should now have working market/apps/web, WITHOUT ANY PROXY, and WITHOUT THE BROADBAND trick.
Thanks to the motodroid post here:

and their reference post here: HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - service programming on the moto droid
Can you please make a video tutorial on how to do this.
Thanks I will donate anything juet to get my apps and mms to work.
