Root Eris FULLY on Cricket (Root Req'd)

Wow, this is unbelievable. Wish it was available in my area!!! I'm paying like $140 a month with Big Red

What about internet tether? Does crickets proxy not allow this on these HTC's or something? I have heard of this working on cricket branded phones as opposed to Verizon or Sprint phones that have been flashed over... What would be the big difference?

Chris

Help!!!! I cant get the u2nl to work.

Just to give you guys all the info for where I'm at. I've got 2.1 official release installed. Applied cricker prl and gotten 3g internet with anycut proxy working.

I went to android market (with WiFi) and downloaded eris rooter and flashed engtools3 and tested su and got # with terminal emulator.

I have autostart (root) installed with permissions given. I put u2nl on the SD card and cannot get it to work. I really dont know what to do from here. I cant understand how to use commands and get root access with adb through Android SDK.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Look in my original post. You'll want to refer yourself here:

Cricket / MetroPCS Web/MMS Flash 8/9 - xda-developers

Don't worry about u2nl or Autostart, or any of that. Just follow the directions in that thread.

If v10 doesn't work for you, try v9 (in some markets, the DNS server doesn't work to get you the right IP, so you have to use v9)

Report on your success.

To tether, just do it like normal with Verizon (use wireless tether or PDAnet, or wired tether, or Easytether, or whatever you want to use)

On the computer you're tethering, open up Internet Explorer, and go to Tools > Internet Options (sometimes just says Options), and set up a Proxy for wap.mycricket.com port 8080

The proxy doesn't come through on the tether automatically because the tether talks to the base DUN network listed in your settings, NOT actually channeling through an app on your phone that uses u2nl.

pkopalek,

Thank you for this simple yet unbeknownst to me fix. Wireless and wired (when my damn phone feels like it...? Charger port works great except when connecting to a computer sometimes it's there usually not) tether is working.

I like 2.1 but there is alot of talk of 2.2 being better, like uploads not being disabled on webpages. Is there a fix like that for 2.1? Also what is the best ROM for me to be using on an HTC Hero? Currently using and enjoying DamageControl 2.0.9.1

Thanks,

Chris

I believe the signal is only dependent upon the phone... Meaning a CDMA (Verizon, Sprint, and cricket alike) phone will have to potential to have the same signal on any of the three networks provided it has the right preferred roaming list (.PRL) and I think thats all. I noticed an INDESCRIBABLE signal difference between my Sprint Blackberry Curve 8330 and my Sprint HTC Hero, both on the same Cricket network with the same .PRL

The Blackberry Curve would have a pretty much DEAD ZONE in my house, but once changing to the HTC Hero it had what was actually a pretty impressive signal.

Hope this helps. And still hoping someone answers my above question,

Chris
