Eris on Cricket Wireless

Exactly correct. I'll even type out the programming when I get to the phone. I've done it EXACTLY the way the post is on xda, then ALTERNATIVELY, put in your numbers.

For example, I had something that auto-populated for the True MIN1 and True IMSI etc numbers, but CHANGED them to what you have, which was like
0000006883 or something. I had the same success with the True MIN stuff that I had in as yours.

And btw she just ANSWERED the phone, will I called her, on her Eris. So I'm SO CLOSE. I think I just have to call Cricket and say Hey, I need to activate a phone. And pay $15 or whatever, but nonetheless.

So the phone has enough reception to talk (very clearly I might add, compared to her other Cricket phone). even without the right .prl.

Yea the True MIN stuff I didn't touch from when I bought it. Did you keep the data that was in there before? or was it blank?

Oh sweet! Did you send her our love?! (friendly love from me of course... very happily married hehe), Yea that is one thing I love about the phone. I feel like the person I am talking too is right there. Except when I talk to an iphone user lol they are still staticy! Poor suckers! All that money spent for sup-rate quality.

I started from fresh. I never even activated it on Verizon at first.

Then I figured, well, maybe Cricket sees that the ESN is locked because Verizon is waiting for me to activate this on one of my phone lines (since I got the New Every 2 on it). So I activated it on Verizon, then re-activated MY Eris, and converted the other one to Cricket PST settings.

Both situations (before Verizon activation, and after Verizon activation) I had the same success (0%).

The True MIN populated itself the first time. My phone had basically nothing in those fields. I put in the MIN, and MIN2 and MSID, etc, and the True ones populated. Mine definitely didn't look like yours though. I don't think those matter, truth be told. Not part of the xda tutorial.

Point noted, cept he wasn't programing an eris ;)

Mission success !!! all I had to do was call cricket and let them know my esn!

I had it right the whole time!

Wow.
The problem now is that she has roaming. She can't downgrade plans without losing roaming.
So internet will be a straight up 35/month MORE than her current plan.

This makes it actually as expensive as verizon anyway!!

And I'm mad at the two customer service reps that didn't tell me I had to just tel them and pay 15 bucks to make it work!

Thanks so much for your help, SirSlayer.

I'd be glad to join the small set of individuals who will help others get on Cricket.

Had a Cricket CS Rep, even once, told me that I need to do ANYTHING other than what I was already doing for *228 to work (aka PAY $15 and give them the ESN -serial number!) despite me telling three of them that I was unsuccessful in *228 and asking what I should do, I would have had this project done in less than a half hour!

Other than my gf's plan including roaming, and there being no way to downgrade the Mobile Web without losing Roaming (to save money on the plan), she is happy finding WiFi hotspots, and just using Browser.

I'll file this project in the DONE folder!

OK so Mobile Web goes through the wap.mycricket.com:8080 proxy.

But when she's on WiFi, the only way she can use the web is to re-open the Proxy shortcut, CLEAR IT OUT, then open Browser again.

Is there any way to make a shortcut that changes the proxy instantly, or will she have to re-type in wap.mycricket.com:8080 every time she is OFF wifi?

Ouch!

Yea I know its annoying as hell, that is why I broke down and got the broadband modem. NO MORE WIFI or proxy crap. The only shortcut I was able to make was to the proxy settings and yes she will have to clear it to use the browser on WIFI. OR...hehe have her download Opera. Should work either way without issue.....the only problem I had with opera was making it my default browser. Well that was before I knew too much about the defaults. I hadn't tried this but in the manage apps you should be able to clear the browser defaults and then maybe choose Opera as the default browser. Let me know if it works.

Oh, btw The people on my friends list are the ones so far that I found on the forum using eris with Cricket. I think its key to keep us close so that when the updates/root come we can help each other out with our findings. Welcome!!! lol we should start our own sub-forum....well when we find enough of us.:D

gtpdjw, did you get QPST to work on your Eris? I can't find any other way to extract the .prl file.

I'm resetting hers for 2.1 and to put it on Verizon for a second, and I will re-enter the Cricket settings, but would rather use the CORRECT .prl file when I do!

yes you need the htc diag tool to do it tho I have them let me have your email and I'll try sending them to you if the file is not to big

All those prl's work. All of them. but NONE are local buffalo .prl files. There's a guy locally I found that flashes phones here in Buffalo. He's actually TRYING to 'flash' an Eris, I found, and he's at work tomorrow. I'm going to show him an Eris on cricket, and show him everything he is clueless about. LOL

oh and, I GOT MMS TO WORK! FIRST TRY! get APN Backup & Restore from market, back up your APN to your SD card. Plug into computer. Edit the .xml file that was backed up. Save an extra copy of it, just in case. Put this in one of the copies:

then edit the 'Production' XML area as follows:

I posted this on the other thread to but her it is and it still doesnt work what im I missing

Yea I did the same thing and its not working for me either, I am wondering if its because we are using the broadband work around.

The broadband thing has to be figured in. if your broadband number is trying to get data instead of your number, I'm SURE it won't work

I'll post my settings. Using 58299 prl it sucks. The guys at a local cricket re seller are trying to put an eris on cricket. What a coincidence, I need a prl file.

He claims he could get in trouble for giving it to me.

That's a darn shame isn't it! What with me being able to make mms work and everything...

When he emails me a file I well help him.

I can get the prl file other ways but why not help one another...
