Eris to v2.x, when?

THis is the response I received from HTC technical support yesterday
New Response From [ Tony (North America Support (Tech)) ]Dear ,

The Droid Eris will be getting a ROM upgrade to Android 2.1 sometime the first quarter of this year. The upgrade should address many Bluetooth issues but we can't guarantee all devices will be supported. If you need further assistance please contact us at 866.449.8358 Sun - Sat 8 am- 1am EST.

Sincerely,

HTC Support

Inquiry InformationInquiry TypeTechnical SupportInquiry DescriptionTwo questions about Android 2.1 on the droid eris. First, do you have a best guess when our phones will be upgraded from 1.5 to 2.1. The second concerns bluetooth connectivity with my car. I can pair the phone with the car to make and receive calls. However, I cannot transfer my contacts to the car. I understand that this is an issue with 1.5 and that 2.1 will address it. Is this true? Please let me know. Thanks.
Issue Date & Time
As long as it happens eventually. According to this post we'll get it before the end of March. Although.... I wouldn't mind if I got it NOW! ::looks at phone:: nope.

actually i just got it, it is winmo7

No, you actually were one of the select few that got Froyo. Extra perks include mind-reading capabilities, 6 Gigapixel camera (it's that awesome, it changes hardware using software), and Google X-Ray to spy on that cutie next door.

I'll end this with a "pix or it didn't happen."

Here are the shots, i especially like the lock screen.

I really wish I knew what all of you were talking about---but no need for explanations as I am afraid I wouldn't understand! I am just thankful to have figured out how to make my battery last longer(thanks to this forum)..........but reading your posts make for some interesting entertainment.........I have no idea what is sarcasm(I know there has to be some sarcasm and inside jokes here! again no explanations needed) and what is real information. I also have figured out that somewhere down the line(who knows when!) I will either be very happy for new stuff that comes with an update, or will be frantically on this forum asking for help!!! Donna :p

Don't tell anyone, but I've been pretending to know what "winmo7" is. hehe he.. (I know it has something to do with ***ness or maybe Sesame Street).

I'll never google it; this is too much fun.

Candy...why do you torture me so? That was a lot of work to photoshop just for a prank, but i actually love those icons :P.

All you need to know is that there's supposed to be some small, bug-fixing update today and will gradually get to everyone within a week or so as they release it in increments.

I do not have 2.1, and no one knows FOR SURE when that will come out.

Well, if you will go back and look at the math it is pretty obvious that it will be on 2/12. :p

Well I had a notification with a system update, then I killed all tasks so nothing would be running in the background and it disappeared. When I go to about phone>system update, it says my system is up to date. How do i get it back?

Though this topic was thoroughly beaten to death ages ago, here's one more point: I would bet that our 2.1 update won't show up until at least a few days AFTER the Moto Droid people get 2.1. Sad as it is, the Moto is currently Verizon's hot phone, and is probably going to get the attention first ... and VZW likely won't update both phones simultaneously because of the load that would place on their data network. And the Eris upgrade will require an upgraded HTC Sense, as well, which will make it more complicated than the Moto's upgrade.

You'll probably just have to wait.

It's funny how everyone who has received the update then does something to lose it leaving us hanging.

A quick notification appeared on my Eris about an hour ago. It was on the bottom of the screen as I took it out of sleep mode. As soon as I went to touch it it vanished. I checked the update area and it said my device was up to date.

Good to know it's up to date, I guess.

It was probably an app update. Go to Market, scroll down to My Downloads and it should all be there.

I just saw that post. Thanks. I'll do that and see what's up, if anything.

[EDIT] Nope, in "my downloads" in Market there are just the two games I installed yesterday.

Hmm. I had two updates, but both were Apps. One was for Mobile Defense and the other for Tapatalk. Nothing vanished on me.

Restart your phones and see if it shows up.

Also, I just got a Twitter update from HTC. They said "The Tattoo and the Hero kernel is now available for download" on the HTC website. What does that mean for us?

Hey all,

I'll be breaking my smartphone cherry with an Eris probably next week. Forgive any noob questions I might have here, but one thing I was wondering is when I get my new phone, will it automatically seek any updates that are available for it? I'm assuming that I'll probably get a phone that was manufactured prior to many of the updates that you all mentioned here.

Thanks!
