Eris to v2.x, when?

We should TOTALLY have some sort of contest for the release date and time. Whoever gets it right, gets a prize "unicorn horn, updated eris, pot of gold, etc.."

I have something similar, but I thought the discount was only on service. Is her discount also on hardware? I'd better check mine, too!

She does get a discount on accessories - I was referring to the discount on service. The phones in the end aren't very expensive no matter where you get them. When you are signing a 2 year contract, the total is much more than equipment. I should have been more specific.

Does anyone know how you get your discount on service if you buy the phone and sign a "contract" through an authorized agent? Does the agent set up the discount or do you have call or go to a verizon location?

do you think that, not necessarily with the updates, that google will ever come out with a google chrome browser app for the eris? i've seen some google chrome browser themes on the app market but not the actual browser.
 
you call verizon and have them add it.

you can only apply one discount per acct (regardless of number of lines) the wife and I both get can get a discount, hers is more, so we get hers.
 
They should. Mozilla is trying to push out Fennec for mobile phones, and Opera is trying to get the Android version of Mini or Mobile, not sure which one is on market already and which one is still in development. Google needs to have something on the browser front as well. The standard browser doesn't have an traces of Chrome in it.

Page Plus (Verizon Reseller Company). 1200 minutes, 1200 texts, 50MB data for $29.99
Market, Browser, etc are all fully functioning.
Since the phone has Wi-Fi, I don't need a ton of data since I get free Wi-Fi at school and I have Wi-Fi at home anyway...

EDIT: I did have to pay full retail price for the phone ($276 New on Ebay), but it'll pay off in time...
 
After seeing this promotion, I was all tweaked about paying so much. Printed out the add from Phandroid, brought it to Best Buy (within the first 30 days of course) and they price matched it and gave me every cent back! Yeah, free phone! :D
 
Here is why I don't think we will ever see an update....

Eris runs 1.5 (Cupcake), ported to support CDMA in lieu of having 1.6 (Donut). Since Exchange support was not built into the Android OS natively in 1.5, HTC implemented their own.

Going to 2.x would be a major change in respect that they would need/want to wipe out the HTC Exchange support to make way for the native Exchange support. Either that, or they would have to remove/hide/block the native exchange support in the 2.x OS to continue to allow the HTC version to run.

Replacing HTC's exchange solution with the native one in 2.x would mean that the user's exchange relationship would be wiped out, and they would have to set it back up the native support. This would be viewed by VZ as a majorly bad customer situation that likely has no clear method of making it a smooth or transparent transition.

For most of us on this board, no big deal, we just set up our exchange credentials in the updated OS. For many though, this would be a difficult task likely resulting in an onslaught of calls/visits to Verizon. I just don't think VZ would allow this.

I think that if this update is made available, it will come in the form of a tethered upgrade, agreeing to the fact that you will have to re-setup your device.

Just my thoughts.
