Eris to v2.x, when?

If you look at that post in the forum and look below his Username you might see the word "Banned"! There goes the trustworthy part :D Could be him messing around I guess.
 
Patches is pretty well known and trustworthy on the blackberry side of things. The banned thing is a long running joke for him.

This is about the moto droid and not the Eris though.

It will be nice to see the Eris get 2.1 before the moto droid. Id like to see all the surprised faces of all the people who think that because the moto droid was more expensive it will get 2.1 first

If the generic 2.1 (Moto Droid) failed wouldn't 2.1 for the Eris fail as well? Isn't the Eris version just generic 2.1 with the Sense UI?
 
yeah but it's HTC's job to integrate the OS with the architecture of the phone. So in that case, maybe the Droid is having issues handling certain portions of the 2.1 software but the Eris might not have those issues.

This is the first time I have actually needed 2.1 (or even 1.6). Up until now, I wanted the upgrade because, well I wanted the newest and coolest. But I need epocrates (they stopped supporting palm on a mac so I can not even use my old treo any more).

*sigh* hopefully it comes soon . . .

Both failed. I heard about em separately.

You don't have to believe me, but you'll never see proof of something failing. It's not like VZW would pit out a press release, right? What would you consider proof that it failed anyway? A Twitter account? LOL

You'll learn that I have my sources and they're extremely reliable.

It didn't fail per say...

As I noted in another post, some testers had issues when they upgraded (wiping SD"s and resetting phones). There was a temp hold put on further loading. Now, I don't know of anyone who had the problems and I'm not sure how this will affect the OTA.

My phone is only a week or so old. Bring it on if its wiped I would be able to put it back in a few minutes.;)
 
I pay $80 a month for 2 phones (Eris and Droid) with 2000 minutes, and all the typical unlimited text, picture, data..blah blah blah...




















Oh yeah I forgot to mention, my brother works for VZW and we are on his employee plan. We have to pay the difference of what he paid before adding us, and what he pays now with the increase in minutes and 2 more smartphones.
 
trying to be patient but if it gets delayed later than the first quarter I think I'll have to stop checking. There's just too much what ifs floating around. It might just be easier to just forget about it and wait without all this obsessive checking of blogs I'm finding myself doing.
 
Hey all! I've been reading constantly since last week but this is my first post. Eagerly awaiting the upgrade like everyone else.

On this page, on the right, theres a link that says MR2 Upgrade.

I downloaded the 119mb file it's linked to but what is that file exactly? The readme talks about it being a rom but doesn't mention a version. Anyone know? Or does everyone but me know... :o

This is where you will find the manual update. The update loads thru the usb cable. The one posted is the second minor update.
This is an option to the over the air method. However it does master reset your phone. Not a bad thing in my opinion as i don't really trust ota updates, but to each his own.

Do the OTA updates reset too?
 
It would seem simple to me, considering the sd card wipe, to sync; create a desktop file and copy it to the computer desktop; then un sync; accept the download; when finished, copy the files back to the sd card: Is this too simple? Am I missing something?

PS-I have a great picture of a Northern Pike with his entire side bitten in a liniar stripe pattern for my pic, but it isn't displaying-and thus the quote there is always a bigger fish.

The only way I can see a problem with that is if the OS requires files on the SD card. If that is the case, copying everything back over may overwrite some needed files. Not sure if there actually is anything really, but I would say that better safe than sorry.

Not supposed to. I think I saw only 1 mabye 2 fail with last 2 updates. So I think its more dependible than ota updates on a blackberry.
Purchased apps are tied to ur gmail acct so u don't lose them.
I guess what it boils down to is I'm gonna want it as soon as it comes out, so I don't mind resetting up my phone. My wifes Eris didn't get push until about a week later I think. Emp phones may get push last. that's fine.

Someone posted screenshots of the process on here I saw(not me). Think its the same doc from work. Idk, ill look when I'm at my pc and post the link so they get credit. To hard to search on phone.

Kid skipped school. Grounding to do. Can't have dumb kid. Must go.
 
Hmm... now I'm a little worried that my full backup won't segue into the newly installed 2.1 when the OTA comes along.
