Nice post, aleis. You come across as a person with a great, positive outlook on life no matter your age.

Someday, you'll look back and wonder why in the hell you were in such a rush to grow up. I COULD do whatever I want with my life if I wasn't so busy taking care of 5 yr old twins, working, doing laundry, grocery shopping, paying bills and so on :p Hey, but life is good!!! Enjoy being 17! And remember me once your famous ok!!:p:p

36 and know back to the age for kids to have a cell phone. I have two kids a boy 11 and a daughter 6. I have been wondering at what age to get them cell phones. There have been several things that pop in to my head. one is safety with a phone they can call me if there is something wrong and the other is with the smart phones having GPS and the ability to track the phone in the event something bad happening to them say kidnapping or hurt somewhere. But then you have the trust issue can they use the phone only what it was given to them for or miss use it and get them in trouble with it or make them feel as i am spying on them with the ability to track their phone and see where they are at any given time. Any advise from the younger users would be nice. Oh and phone history first phone was a bag phone then went to a brick and on to where i started with smartphones. First smartphone HTC 6800 to the eris.

Yes, i will remember you all if I become famous :) I'll shoutout to my android forums buddies

As far as the question above mine(too lazy to quote)

I think 11 is too young if you're son/daughter is immature...We talked about this today in class about kids, internet and cellphone...

our teacher son is about to be 11 and wants a cellphone and was asking the opinion of the class....

I point blank said "If you're kid still has accidents at this age..he/she isn't ready for a cellphone."

"If you're kid still sleeps in cartoon character pajamas or underwear...he/she isn't ready"

"If you're kid still has imaginary friends, believe in santa clause or thinks there are monsters in the bed or closet...he/she isn't ready"

Lol i am a class clown so of course everybody laughed...

My point being was only you know the maturity level of you're children but i do think a contract phone at this age(11) is too early

i think i mentioned pre-paid earlier in posts before...

Verizon has amazing plans for pre-paid and cute phones :)

Don't ever go trac-fone(one...they are ugly & two...they are ugly)

That way if he/she does do something wrong, you can punish them by taking the phone away without having to pay for the minutes they aren't using

Feel lucky! I am a Security System Specialist, and we carry software that can be attached to a cell phone, and allow you to be tracked like you were wearing an ankle bracelet... It shows text messages and the whole deal...

Parents are eating it up! Their kids don't even know they are being watched... Not available for Verizon yet though... ;) How's that for
mis-use of a cell phone?!

I'm 68 and still running in circles, love my droid even tho it can drive me a little crazy at times.I also love my mac.

Frisco, it would interesting to see the "over 40" group broken out (I'm a geezer, too - for this forum, anyway - I'm 57)

Yeah I know. It's been asked several times in here by geezers; "what's with the 40 and over? break it down to the decades, etc.."

I'm old enough to remember the 60's. I mean NOT remember the 60's. ;)

We're all quite ancient, when you think about the atoms that we're all made of.

As old as the Universe itself.

Don't bring up the 60s to an old guy; he's liable to erupt into hippie-isms. :D
