Eris will Not be getting 2.1, That's it

according to my sources in VZW

I have to say, that is probably my favorite part of this post (and numerous other posts across forums worldwide). Everyone seems to have a "source" these days. This place is getting to be like the Hollywood tabloids.

The fact that we have 3 options for Eris users to upgrade to version 2.1, with or without root, is more credible than saying a "source" says they aren't pushing it.

And as stated in a prior post, this is no small update. These files to upgrade the Eris have been ~103MB in size compared to the 15MB .zip that was sent to the Moto Droid.

Who is the author of that "leak" and Exactly where did it come from?? Leak does NOT = credibility

I don't think you understand what the leak is.
The author of the leak is HTC. The person who leaked it was a tester, who took the ROM and uploaded it to the internet.

The leak is actual proof that 2.1 for the Eris is not only being made, but it is made, and is at a very usable point. Just waiting for Verizon to send it out.

I'm pretty sure they'll wait til N1/Incredible come out, because people like you, who will think "Oh no, my phone isn't getting upgraded, time to buy a new one"

I wish the Incredible would come out so I could get it though. I want something a little quicker.

Actually, the leak was signed by HTC specifically for the Eris. That's the only way we're able to install it. If there was no intention of updating I'm absolutely certain that HTC wouldn't have wasted a single hour's wage on getting that done. And VZW is the only carrier for the Eris, HTC wouldn't have begun work on an update without the OK from VZW.

Lol. I guess it was a little harsh. But I mean seriously, sending new phones instead of an OTA makes no sense.

Yeah I know it makes no sense, but neither does killing off what they called a "series, not just a phone" after it's been out for, I think, less than half a year. I'm an engineer who has to deal with people who have no clue what I'm talking about every day, so I think the human capacity for basic sense knows no low.

Just toss your Eris in the Toilet, in 2 weeks the Incredible will be out and we will be saying, I wish we had what the Incredible had.
Best part of this is all the Self appointed experts that live here:D I love the fact I can come here and get all this wisdom for free

Word on the street is that VZW decided it was cheaper to send all Eris users a new Incredible than to do the 2.1 OTA.
Why are so many people saying that? It makes no sense. Verizon would NEVER send free upgrades to a group of users for one model phone. They would just leave us with 1.5.

Things found on the street are generally discarded, dirty and sometimes through no fault of their own, useless.

My source on the "inside" says that the OP is a complete idiot. I could have heard my source wrong, though.

Here is a picture of the OP on who wants to be a millionaire...

How about sharing whatever it is you're smoking? lol, that's gotta be some good stuff!

On the plus side, I found a sucke...um, "volunteer" who's going to upgrade to a data program, then allow me to buy the Incredible and I'll give them my Eris, so I'm pretty happy. They get an Eris for free and I get the Incredible for the upgrade price, win-win!

My source tells me that the Eris is not capable of running 2.0 or 2.1 android operating system without major problems.

This, as was explained to me, is the result of the processor, memory, etc. in the Eris.

All current Eris owners will be offered new phone, of their choice, for one year contract pricing.

fify ;)
