Eris will Not be getting 2.1, That's it

Not to rub anything in. But i am so glad i found some chick to trade me her Moto Droid straight across for my HTC Eris. I never thought I would own another brand than HTC when I bought my G1 but HTC and Verizon have really dropped the ball with the Eris. It has such great places it could go and 2.1 on the Eris was the phone I thought I was buying. I tried to stay and be loyal but am really glad I moved on and am not still waiting for Verizon to do something out of the norm and get on top of things. Again, great phone not getting enough attention from the right people, plenty here but not within the company's.

People like me are really curious if we can in fact update. I want to know what will happen to my phone when the OTA rolls. And if we can't update, then we get no FUTURE updates either.

And if the Eris is to be discontinued sooner rather than later that concerns me. How much money will they put into research and development if the phone is on the kill list? I have a two year contract...16 months remaining.

The statement that the Eris is not going to receive the update is nothing but a rumor as far as we at HTC are confirmed. Before releasing a ROM update, we have to be sure that the software is going to work properly on your hardware and on your carrier’s network. This testing does take some time but will result in an update that is optimized to work on your device, on your carrier’s network. While we want to release software as soon as we can, we will only do so once the software has passed our quality standards. So Basically, Evil Sports, you are now flaming the Eris since you made it clear that you are getting an Incredible as soon as it launches and the Eris to you is now a piece of junk.

A classic "My phones penis is bigger than yours" approach.

(Funny thing is that you have to be the first person in history to take this approach since you don't even own the incredible yet)
Anyhow, this is no different than those same people who create "I got a new phone and yours now sucks" thread.

Enjoy your incredible and stop being a doosh.

Do you not realize how many people create crap threads around here based on what their "Source" told them? This one is no different.

You are not the first, or going to the the last person, who has a "Source".
 
Its is interesting that because I say Blue and you say Red people are willing to call me names and make disparaging comments about me when they dont have the first clue about who I am. The fact is my statements have as much validity as the people that came in here and told you there was an update coming in the 1st quarter. The 1 difference, what I have to say people DONT want to hear, they want to hear they will be getting upgraded when they are not and that in turn has them acting like a 10 year old.

You know that what you are saying goes against EVERYTHING that has been said about the update until now. So you are surprised that no one believes you?

The burden is on you to prove that your source is more reliable than any one elses. Otherwise, you will just be labeled a troll, fool, etc... You can't blame anyone for that.

Actually each day that passes Without an update the burden of proof becomes less of an issue. How many days has it been now.
I cant blame anyone for acting like a 10 year old and calling a person they know absolutely nothing about childish and rude names?? Sorry I cant agree with you there. And because I dont agree you should call me more names:cool:

Actually, the main difference is that there have been tons of spoken and written statements by people at Verizon and HTC telling of an update in the future and there have been a few disgruntled individuals without a lot of patience saying it won't happen. As someone else said, you aren't the first and you won't be the last. I hate to say it, but until you show some solid proof of your statements then you have become nothing but a troll trying to start something. Which is really sad.
