Root Error in E: sdcard aosp...update aborted

Hello. I've been doing a lot of research and feel pretty confident on flashing a custom rom. I am rooted and have installed custom recovery. This is the error I received when attempting to flash the aosp rom. Do you think it's an issue with the particular rom link I downloaded or may I have overlooked a step?

Ps. Thank god for nandroid backup. Lol

Which recovery are you using? aospCM7 may not install with all recoveries, but I know it works fine with the recovery aosp post along with the ROM, which I believe is ClockworkMod 3.0.0.8

Thanks for the replies. I'm using a thunder recovery which now looks like it may be outdated. I'll re download everything tonight and give it a try.

While some people have had success using various recoveries with various ROMs, your best bet is to use the recovery posted with the ROM you choose to install. In some cases, it is mandatory.

hi, thanks again for your help. I was finally able to successfully flash the aosp ROM.

I do have a couple of concerns though, which actually led me to go back to my nandroid backup.

- Even though I flashed the gapps theme, I was unable to switch to it. Should I have rebooted my phone after flashing the ROM, and then go back to recovery and flash the gapps? I've seen instructions say that you should reboot twice, but in recovery, I flashed the ROM, then gapps, and then rebooted. I was also unable to change wallpapers.

- When I flashed the ROM, all other things seemed to work perfectly until I restored my apps. After I restored my apps, I switched to the Go Launcher EX which I had before I flashed the ROM. I seemed to have trouble changing wallpapers again, so I decided to reboot. When I rebooted, I was stuck on the "Android" startup screen for 15 minutes. I know I'm not supposed to do this, but the only way to get out of it was to pull the battery. At this point, I went back to the recovery and flashed the nandroid backup. Do you think restoring all of the apps may have caused this issue? Is it safer to just re download apps instead of restoring them?

- This is minor, but I noticed Swype was gone. I'm assuming I just need to download it from the market?

You did wipe the dalvik cache under advanced options in recovery, right?

Gapps is not a theme, it is the collection of applications native to Google. You need them in order to setup sync and everything else your phone does with Google in the background.

Do you have any probelms before restoring Go Launcher with Titanium Backup? If not, rather than restore Go Launcher, try reinstalling it, or try one of the launchers that comes with this ROM, ADW or Zeam.

Swype is a system app on the stock ROM. To use it with a custom ROM, you have to got the Swype Beta website, sign up, download the installer, run it, and then unselect the Android Keyboard.

Jerry, your quick replies are awesome. Thank you.

Yes, I did wipe the dalvik cache under advanced options.

I did actually have issues changing the wallpaper and theme before restoring Go Launcher. Everything else seemed to work perfect though. I wonder if there was just a small bug when flashing and I should just repeat the process?

Thanks for the advice on Swype. I'll do that.
