Esteem General Issues Thread

This thread was made to post any issues/question about your phone, and this will also help others that might be having the same issues, and it will cut down on multi thread being started that way it will be easier for users to navigate to one thread instead of multi threads to find an answer. :);)
 
I have a concern once I start using my Esteem in the morning I notice that
on the first time I hit the call button there is a slight delay on opening the command the same goes for my gallery, contacts, and camera app and that just happens on the first try after that it responds quickly, so yes there is a lag as I press those commands on the first try also if I don't use the phone for a while and then try to use it it will delay on opening but afterwards it runs normal I don't know if anybody else has this issues.

what i normally do is open application manager and under running application i hit stop all, cause some apps still run even after you close them, and this built in app does that for you, there a few apps that are memory hogs and cause a slight delay on your phone...but i always restart my phone like every 12 hours, but thats just something i do, alsoi use cache cleaner also.
 
Actually you are right I have try that app and when I open it and close all things running it does makes the phone responsive right away I just wish the app did it automatically I thought there was an issue with the phone but those apps do slow the performance I will say once a custom rom comes out that might solve those issues I had installed a nice custom rom on my optimus and it feels it runs like it had a snapdragon.

Exactly what Nuttmeg said.

The reason for this is because the phone keeps apps running in the memory. It is lagging because it has to close an app down to free some memory to open the new app. Now after the first time of opening it, it will already be in the memory so it will no longer lag when you use the app.

Thanks guys you think a custom rom will help with this issues?

you can try "Advanced Task manager free" from android market and set that to automatic.

Yeah I notice that on the my optimus after installing the custom rom it got faster and it ran smoothly.
 
Titanium Back up Freezes on restore app

I tried rerooting, it didnt help

It just freezes when i try to restore an app, any ideas?

Btw it only freezes on apps i tried to restore after i restored my phone.

BUT the backups are still in the titanium back up folder and they are still the correct file size...
 
yes once a new rom comes out, it will most likely work like cm7 did with the optimus and ascend hopefully. but if we get ICS it might be built in, but remember Android have to have certain processes to run, also you might want to check out smartbar in market, it even has a shortcut for the notification bar.

So the apps didn't get restored? When I froze some apps I eventually had to do a restore and all those apps were back to normal. The backups show up on mine too but since there's no need to restore them...
 
Really sort of a question for one. When utilizing the camera, should the entire screen rotate or just parts?

Also, How do I stop the Metro Navigator App. from running, It's using all of my power so quickly?

I'm looking for new games to play but also interested in what people like to play. I usually like 3D multiplayer games like guerilla bob but want one over wifi. This was meant for the esteem but if you have another phone it doesn't matter.

Just post what your favorite games are!

Hello everyone, Newbie and Dummy here. May I ask, I have the LG Esteem and I would like to know if there is a way to stop running the "Metro Navigator", It's utilizing most of my power? I know it cannot be uninstalled but I don't want it running. Also, Should the "Entire" screen rotate when in camera mode. I've noticed that some icons rotate, but when I bring up the settings menu and when it asks were to save, those two will not rotate, Should they? One more, :p While inputting an event into the calendar, using the keyboard, it will not rotate as well, should it? If so can someone tell me how to fix these things.

ETA: I've asked these questions in a Esteem thread, to no avail!
 
I know you guys had help me out today however I feel that there is something wrong with y esteem the laggins is killing me and it goes away after I press those apps on the second try then the lagging is gone I might just return and get another one but I am rooted so I have to unroot is that too hard to do thanks guys for the help.

It would be better to have a separate thread for each issue so that solutions do not get buried in one large thread. This way it will be much easier for people to find what they are looking for.

Just the icons rotate, the picture will look right no matter which way you are holding the phone.

Freeze it with Titanium Backup.
 
You'll have to root the phone and then use something like Titanium Backup to either uninstall or freeze the app. Be sure to backup the .apk file before you remove it in case you have to restore the phone to factory later for a warranty repair.

^^prolly best bet atm.

Once we get CWM (not far off :)) working on the esteem you can make a backup n then just delete it with root explorer etc.
 
What happens if you root your phone and get free wifi tethering? I here metro's really strict about free tethering but i have yet to hear what happens to those who get caught.
