Esteem or the Indulge?

So I'm stuck on which phone I should get. When the Indulge hit Metro I was set on buying that one because of the Qwerty Keyboard(which i'm scard my son might break) and Swype on the touch keyboard. But when the Esteem hit the market i was sooo lost on which one is best:confused:.

Can someone please let me know which phone is better!

DO NOT GET THE INDULGE!!!, it is a nightmare when it comes to battery life, even after rooting it. Some say no, some say yes, but it's a risk not worth it.

The Esteem battery life is better by far, but as for most android phones not rooted, and with some many fancy processes, and services running, it just takes some common sense to tweak it, and get the most out of it.

I can tell more pros and cons since my friend has that phone, but I don't feel like writing a lot :s Seriously get the Esteem, it's almost a clone of the old EVO 4G, a almost 2 year old phone that still kicks the ass of most phones today.

There are a few minor advantages the Indulge has over the Esteem (which I mentioned in my other thread), but everything else about the Esteem is superior to the Indulge. The slideout keyboard on the Indulge sucks by the way.

Thanks for all the help you all gave me. And the tow main reason I was going to get the Indulge was for the Keyboard and Swype. But learning as how the keyboard suck's lol and that the Esteem has Swype I'll be going with that one. Now I just have to go and find more forum's about accessories. For what I've learned in one forum, The LG Revolution cases will fit this phone. Is this completely true?

Yes the LG Revolution and the Esteem are identical phones on the outside, so all accessories that work on one will work on the other.

Oh and if you go to a Metro store, they have a floor model of the Indulge and you can try the slideout keyboard yourself just to see how bad it is. Awkward layout of letters and numbers, and the keys are too flat against the phone to feel responsive. I had an Indulge for 7 months, and the only times I used the keyboard was when it was taking too long to enter something precise with the onscreen keyboard...which was very rare. But since the Esteem's display is larger than the Indulge, the onscreen keyboard is much more spaced out and easier to type with, so I don't miss the pos slideout keyboard on the Indulge at all either way.

Ah, yes I definitely like the Esteem's onscreen keyboard in landscape mode (wide screen). I've always been a spastic typist and the Esteem's large keys makes life so easy.

Thats good to know because this will be the first touch phone for me.:D

This is a good topic. I have and indulge and the first week i got it i was like wow nice little phone but as soon as the weather got hot it fried my phone replaced it and then all hell broke lose with the second one. No 4G at home or let alone any service. So i took it back to Metro and they replace it. This one I'm using is working ok. Except it acts phony with double twist and sometimes the apps on the screen and my weather widget will disappear and I would have to pull out the battery to resolve that issue. So I'm looking forward to the Esteem. I pray i don't have to switch phones like I did with the super hand warmer aka the Indulge.

Ah yes I remember how hot the Indulge would get, especially when you ran certain apps...LIKE Angry Birds when you zoom out and keep playing for more than 20 min. I think that is a common issue on all Galaxy phones...with their Hummingbird processors and gpu. But it was a lot more pronounced on the Indulge I think. Not an issue AT ALL with the Esteem.

I havnt seen my phone go above 40 degrees, living in SFL that is good since the average temp here seems to be around 35 degrees

Yeah thats why i had to delete angry birds also some music apps that act weird. Another reason why i don't like Samsung's way of doing anything when it comes to cellphones.

Well Prime the indulge here in those nice sweatering summers were going nuts. This summer we had 100 degree weather for 2 weeks straight.

I have to let my brother know about the phone getting hot. He works for Direct TV and uses his phone as a GPS device throughout the day. So the getting hot would be a major issue for him and lets not mention the the app giving out. He'll be in no-man's-land lost.:(

He is talking about the indulge not the esteem.

The esteem doesn't get hot or hadn't gotten hot yet since I purchased it at the beginning of the month

So I'm taking it that the Indulge doesn't have GPS because that's the phone I was was talking about. I'm the one that's getting the Esteem not my brother. Sorry if It seemed that way...:)

The GPS also doesn't work hardly ever, it overheats, the LTE radio burns out, and it is over all a junk phone. Oh, and the magnetometer (compass) doesn't work. It is one purchase I wish I had never made.

Correct Redhook. The temperature during this summer fried my first indulge. the second one couldn't use the headphone, the music app or the voicemail.

Well I picked up my Esteem about 5 hours ago and I couldn't be happier with it. It appears to have none of the problems that the Indulge is plagued with, everything just works! Now I just need to get Samsung to replace this defective Indulge so I can put it up on Craigslist (I have too much ethics to sell a known broken handset). I hope I can get $170-$180 for it so I can recoup some of my costs. I have never bought 2 phones in a year before, let alone within 3 months of each other.
