It's unclear to me, and some diagrams differ as to where they put the parallax barrier, but I assumed it was behind the TFT LCD as well -- the diagram here supports that thought, but who knows:I guess I always assumed that the parallax barrier was below the glass, or basically sitting on top of the actual LCD. Admittedly, I haven't looked into it much, so perhaps you're right.

My wedding ring is tungsten so it's not uncommon to have hard metals in ones possession. However, all of those old Gorilla Glass videos of people running a key across the screen are dumb. Keys are typically made of brass which is only about 3.5 on MOHS scale so it's not going to scratch any glass no matter how fancy or cheap it is. Unless of course you apply a lot of force but then you're not really scratching the glass...you're gouging it.
