EVO # 4 going back

I neither agree nor disagree with this guy having satisfaction issues with every Evo he's owned.

But let me ask, what positive impact has creating this thread made on his situation? are the members here supposed to go find him one? are we supposed to send cards and flowers to him?

I mean really, WTF is the point of telling EVERYONE ELSE you've had no luck with the Evo quality. This goes out to everyone who keeps posting these pointless new threads.

OP buys a product. It does not meet his specifications. He contacts the vendor. The vendor agrees, and will replace the product.

I don't care if he replaces it 100 times; that is his prerogative.
 
This post reminds me of my palm pre days. I remember posts about my 8th one 10th one. I agree these posts are unnecessary and just push some newcomers away from the phone. Good luck to you in getting the fifth. I wanted to say something else but dont want to be jinxed.

I'm buying a second one to sell since I still have an upgrade. I hope its defect free.
 
My 2nd EVO has its screen seperation (which was very minor as arrival) getting much worse, up the sides of the phone. Also, recessed Power button and dead pixel. D:

I'll be in the same boat as you before much longer meng. Best of luck to you mate!

Well it might be helpful to someone else who may need to return their EVO, so that they can see what the return experience is like.

We missed the part in the TOS that mandated the reading of every thread.

It is a community thread, where we should all feel free to post helpful info. However until you just recently updated your OP, there was nothing helpful about it. You were simply stating you have had 4 Evos, all with problems and are going for another one. How is that helpful in any way?

Not to mention, there's already about 400+ threads dedicated to product defects with plenty of people bantering about how many Evos they have had to return. Why did you find it necessary to start your own thread on the exact same topic?
 
Uh - guys - isn't there a zero tolerance policy on discussing the discussing the discussion instead of discussing the topic?

The mods are taking no prisoners, I've already f*'d up without even thinking and got a post removed, so I'm just saying.... maybe we want to watch ourselves before they have to.

It's OBVIOUSLY not my call nor my place to dictate - this is just a suggestion.
 
I'm sending back EVO #1 today. It is currently 1:36 and I do not have 2.2 yet. I also noticed a slightly thin seperation between the kickstand and the body of the phone. The headphone jack does not have a cover. The silver grill where you put your ear has gotten slightly dirty, and sometimes the touchscreen gets fingerprints on it. Cleaning it with my shirt is annoying and unneccessary. The glass should be self cleaning, and I do NOT think that I am asking too much at all.
 
I noticed a smudge under the search button and could not figure out what it was. Well it seems like my slight screen separation at the bottom has moved around to the right side of the phone and is now actually starting to lift up under my buttons. :(

Since I'm still under my 30 days I'll just make Sprint send me a new one....ugh!

Update 1:

So Sprint is sending me a new phone in about 2 weeks.

I can keep using the old phone until I receive the new one.

My new contact date starts today and my new 30 day return starts when I receive the new phone.

They charged me for the new phone and will do a credit to my cc on the old phone once I return it.

Bummer is I still have to do the rebate dance.

I think they we're going to send me a refurb unit until I said I wanted a new one.
Who did you contact for this, I have been trying through sprint for about 25 days to do this, I have notes on my account that I can go over my 30 days and still get a new unit, but I want a new one, I have dust coming under the screen, I have dealt with this on my hero, and it sucked

I called the 1877 CS number on my bill and selected option #2 (I forget what it was for) the person who answered took some basic info and then transfered me (I think I was transfered to India) :) and the rep was very helpful and nice. It took about 10 minutes for everything.

wow, wtf, every time I call they say, nope we don't have one, did you say anything that would make them want to give you one?
 
On another note, I don't think you can tell them what to send. They may very well send you a refurb unit.

Heck, with all the build issues, a refurb (tried and tested) may not be a bad thing.

Well I'm still under my 30 days to send it back, so they could order me a new phone or take this one back and refund my $$. Don't forget I have to wait at least 2 weeks for my new one, but they're letting me hold on to the one I have now until the new one arrives.

What was the build date on this last one you had?
 
I kinda wonder if all of you people who've gotten several different Evo's are just trading them back and forth and getting each other's problem phones. You send back phone A, somebody else sends back phone B. Person A then gets sent phone B and person B gets sent phone A. That would be hilarious.

Mine have all been brand new from box.
 
Wow I thought they fixed the whole screen issue by then, guess not.

The touch screen was fixed out of the box with out applying the patch.
But the screen was always a little separated, it just kinda detached under the search button all of a sudden.
