Help Evo 4g GPS problem

yar1

Lurker
Hello, last weekend I got a refurb evo from asurion/sprint and ive noticed it has much worse gps accuracy than my last evo did. my prior evo was able to get my location within 3m in just a few seconds, the refurbs best is 24m, it doesnt seem to matter how long i let it try to get more closer. Also, its much more sensitive to placement, IE if i put it in my pocket to run it will lose the signal or if i set it in my center console for navigation it will lose its position.

These numbers are coming from maps and gps test from the market, according to gps test its using 6-7 satellites. this has been a persistent problem for about 8 days now, any ideas? I used to have an app that would clear the gps' "memory" so i was thinking this might help, but i cant remember the name of that app.

The other antennaes on the phone dont seem to have any reception issues.

First, its a phone and the accuracy of your GPS will not cause navigation problems for you nor interfere with authorities trying to locate you in an emergency. Secondly, unless you are utilizing high end GPS technology from the military you can expect to receive GPS interference. Weather, satellite positioning, and terrain can interfere with GPS signals. If GPS stopped working the phone still will use triangulation off of cell phone towers.

gps fixes are abound in the all things root category. gps uses a triangulation method of fixing your location, and the phone you got from assurion was almost assuredly a refurb. that being said, you might have an old file in the gps section of the system files. do you have root access? if so there are a couple fixes in the all things root section. Not tryin to contradict evulution, but i dont believe that your new phone is just not as up to the task as your old one.... in all actuality, your "new" one might be older than your old one
