Root Evo 4G to Boost Mobile Guide/Evo 3D

I have a few quick questions
1) Do you have 4g capabilities
2) Is the service being shared between the 2 phones?
3) If the service is being shared is there a way to stop it?
4) will there ever be a way to sell the old phone???

No to all those questions. though you could sell the old phone as parts only (i'd suggest in separate parts) Read the op about the legality of the old phone.

So i think its a no go with the prevail. Beyond dead. I also have 1 with a broken usb port have to put aweful tension on the cord for it be reconized howd i use that 1. It only takes a sec right cuz i can get it to power on.

No need to plug it in if you're rooted already. Use any file manager (with root capabilities) and make a copy of file stl5 found in /dev/block. Once that file is out and on your sd card get it on your computer.

Rename it to prevail.rfs and open it with magicISO. Look under /nvm/num and you'll see the bunch of files that we talked about previously. If you're not rooted then I'm not sure what we can do with it...

Look at post number 327 for inspiration on how to proceed from there.

Got the files 465, 465_1, 466, 466_1, 1192, 1194. After work today hope i gt a chance to work on it. Cuz if my last resort is to buy som rant or incognito may as well pay sum 1 to flash it for me.... hope all this wrks. Thanks for the pointers. Following every thing as close as i can.

I recently bought an EVO 4g flashed to Boost on Ebay to replace an identical one that was stolen. Upon arrival it was basically as stock as it gets aside from it being flashed to boost. I then rooted it and flashed a ROM over along with the a2sd.

When connecting to the internet after a few minutes of being connected the internet cuts out and usually I get an error code 67 message. I am not 100% sure but I think this was happening from the beginning before flashing the new ROM.

I have done a profile update and a PRL update and neither has helped. I did the ##3282# thing and changed it to CDMA only instead of automatic. This only gave me 1x (no 3g) but it did cure the problem. If I want 3g I have to select automatic and then it constantly cuts out.

I have now noticed that the Data profile 1 and 0 are identical on my phone but in the guide here they each have a few different settings. Does anyone know if it is possible that changing them could help to solve the problem?

im stuck, i have everything from the prevail excemt nam 1 and nam 2, and the 466, 465, etc. are not in text format. this is my first time flashing a phone, and i know using the prevail is hard. but i managed to get the information that i needed except for the NAm files. i thought i read somewhere that i could get the NAM information from some of the NV items. is that correct?

Downgraded to baseband 2.15.00.11.19

software number 3.70.651.1 android version 2.2

bootloader unlocked revolutionary S-OFF

thanks for the help would not have made it this far. which isnt far but closer than i was... haha. thanks.

Do the meids of both devices match? If so then proceed.

Use a hex editor to read the two files that you pulled from the Prevail. The 465 and the 466. Refer to post #327 on what to do with those files. After you have the information looking like this...
NAI: DonorMEID@hcm.sprintpcs.com
HA Password: 736563726574 (this should stay the same regardless of donor)
AAA Password: A18887A602E2B28637F42ED76D6CFAxx (edit this according to YOUR donor)
we can move to the next step.

Dial ##786# on the Evo 4g. Hit the menu button> reset. It'll ask for your MSL. Put it in and let the phone reset itself. Wait for it to reboot. Once rebooted and up it might go to the home screen or go straight to OTA. Cancel OTA.

Now plug the 4g into Service Programming. Go to the MIP tab and write in all the information for profile 0 that you pulled out. Set active profile to 0 and write to phone.

Sit back and let it reboot. When it tries OTA let it. It'll update profile, ok that. It'll update PRL, ok that too. If your phone made it through prl update without issues then you're good. Cancel firmware update. If the phone doesn't reboot do it manually. Enjoy the experience.

PS: If after doing ##786# reset the phone doesn't self reboot then this is not going to work for you. Post here and we'll figure something out. To the best of my understanding it is a ROM issue and not a failure on the phone. Try flashing a 2.2 rom, stock. Good luck.

{edit}

thanks for the reply didnt see it quick enough. any how do i change the vnitems in the hex editor as per the post in 327. it says to make it into
736563726574
A18887A6D2E2B28637F42ED76D6CFAxx

in hex editor im guessing

thanks

[edit]: going to work will be back 10:30 Easten thank you for all the help. will be back on tonight trying to finish this project... lol atleast im havin fun learning something new.

When you look at the file in your hex editor you'll see the numbers written out with spaces in the middle, take the spaces out and make them into one long string. Plus you have to cut out the two numbers at the beginning that signify the length of the hex.

Look at the post and look at the what's written out and if you pay attention you'll see that it's just been edited... no guessing involved.

wow how do u use qpst. im lost. looked around cant figure out how to get it to recconize evo. im in ##diag# mode. says DM command servrvice. thanks again

I was having the same problem as hopedpocketts and could not get it to connect. I did do a bit of reading and aside for making sure the phone is in charge only mode some people were stating certain apps will block the phone from being seen. One I remember several people commenting on had the name "twist" in the title.

THANKS YOU ALL finnaly got the 3G signal, but am still attached to the sprint network i think. this is a pretty indepth task, sometimes frustrating, but with all the comppunity help and help from kolosus im gettin there. THANKS.

[Edit]: HAHA im an idiot.

Two last questions, can I use this tut for the Droid X or at least htc evo 3d since it's only ESN cloning? and do I have to get in contact with a metro representative for this? or will it be okay because my ESN was currently activated on the donor phone?

Can someone please help me by posting a revised EVO 3D tutorial? The section in the op with the 3D instructions are not too clear. I get up to round 6 but the only way for me to get the SPC code is to use an MSL locator app from the market and then input it in Service Programming but thats as far as I can get! I cannot gget past Round 6, Step 7 because nothing happens in Service Programming. Please Help!

What you say makes sense, but when I do:

Requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof
Requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof 1

I get the same keys in all 4 places, which is "mobipcs" or in HEX "6D6F6269706373"

Well I am getting on a plane in 4 hours and have not slept yet, so i'm throwing in the towel for now. Thanks again everyone for the help.

This is a continuation from 2 weeks ago, but i just wanted to thank Kolosus and New Optimus for helping me out. After I returned from vacation, I tried QPST Service Programming again, and this time it worked for 3G data! It must have been the fact that I didn't copy the nam1 and nam2 files before (the version (3.5 maybe?) of CDMA WS I had would not copy those files! So i found a 2.7 version out there and it worked), and had no voice or data. Then when i copied those files, I got voice, but not data. Finally when I changed my PPP Um and AN password to "mobipcs", I got 3G data!

Thanks!!!!

you don't need to talk two anyone from metropcs. i have done this on htc incredible and my evo 4g so im guessing it works on any HTC
