i just love my evo right now. i am doubly glad that i rooted it before the ota. as long as there is a strong dev community supporting the evo (which there is) i will continue to keep my evo. when the time comes to upgrade, i will choose whatever phone has a strong dev. community.

I've thought long and hard about the Evo 3d, even put my name on the waiting list (expecting a call friday), but i think i might stick with the Evo too. While a faster, slimmer phone would be great, there's just no pull like that of the Evo, last year. And don't get me wrong, I'm not thinking the Evo 3D failed nor did i expect the phone to be a godsend. Evo 4G has held up smooth from launch day and feels like it can impress, until there is a greater difference.

I just read this this morning.

So all the folks complaining about 3D....here you go....This was one of the quietest releases....about as quiet as the Droid 2 launch.

Did anyone about this phone? Rumors? I dont remember seeing anything.

There's still absolutely no indication that this phone is coming to the US. It's releasing in Korea, which runs on CDMA, but maybe this will be the HTC Kingdom that was being rumored a while back? Nontheless, without the kickstand (not having to use a case) and less internal memory, Photon 4G still would be my choice for upgrade.

Sense 3.0 looks fantastic to me, but I use Launcher Pro Plus currently, so the UI is irrelevant. And I really have to see Sense 3.0 in person in order to really determine if it's a stock launcher that I would stick with. As for the internal memory, it's been talked about in the 3D forums that 3gb or the 4gb on the 3d are taken up by Sense 3.0.

I have memory issues on my current EVO, so that would be a losing situation for me.

I would pick this over the 3D that's for sure. I got to play around with the EVO 3D at radioshack. The 3D camera was killing my eyes. It's just not my cup of tea. Playing with it made me appreciate the EVO even more. I'm not saying its not a great device.....it is. It's just not enough to waste my upgrade. As for the EVO 4G+, I highly doubt its coming to the states.

HTC doesn't seem to release the same phone in different regions of the world...so far. Phones released in Asia tend to stay in Asia, etc. Something with similar specs may be coming our way soon...I hope. I want some of that dual core goodness.

Because the HTC Kingdom already cleared FCC, so there's no reason for HTC to bring over a non-3D version

HTC Kingdom Clears FCC On Way to Sprint AndroidGuys

What's more, they refer to benchmarks that indicate a Scorpion single-core CPU humming at 1.2GHz. And finally, they suggest the Kingdom will ship with Android Gingerbread 2.3.3.

Single-core?!? WTF? I hope they just gacked on the specs...cuz that is definitely not the right way to go...oh, and a 5 MP camera isn't inspiring either.

Makes sense. They don't want to take away from the HTC EVO 3D clients, but they'll likely charge $150 for the Kingdom or even less, to attract the consumers that want an Android phone, but don't necessarily need one with "big specs" like the EVO 3D, Photon 4G or SGS 2.

If it makes you feel any better, the EPIC 2 4G is rumored not to be dual core either.

I had an upgrade available and I'm not getting an 3D because it does not have a kickstand and it has the charging port on the side (I use my kickstand all the time, and often charge or HDMI-out it while it's on the kickstand).

So lets see if the E4G+ can match the oldest brother.
This is what easily could have been and avoided the whole questionable "3D" part of the Evo 3d. Feel free to have at it!:p

No kickstand and a charging port on the side? Again? No thanks, I'll stick with my E4G that can do more than the E4G+.

+1

I used to base my purchases on the phone specs, now I base my purchases more on the availability of root/ROMs. Huge thanks to the developer community.
