Help EVO Bluetooth Car Integration Thread

Dam the Phone still works great but I wish the BMW 335 worked with A2DP so I can stream my podcast through my car speakers wirelessly out of the EVO. Anyone have any suggestions to bridge A2DP to a car that doesn't support it (please don't say FM receiver)?

If you have an aux in on your Head Unit you can try a Bluetooth Receiver.

2005 Acura RL working fine with the BT phone integration; didn't have any BT audio back then.

Had a 2010 Acura MDX loaner and a 2010 Acura TL loaner with all the modern bells and whistles and the phone and audio BT both worked fine - though I typically plugged the USB cable and played music that way instead. The MDX even imported all 600+ entries in my phonebook, lol.

For those of us with Factory systems that did not come equipped with Bluetooth, I found this as a viable option that works well:

2005 Chevrolet SSR with Bose, Parrot MKi9200. Allows uploading of phonebook, voice dialing, and music streaming. It also has dedicated inputs for iPod, USB and a 1/8" stereo jack.
Bluetooth Hands Free Car Kits - Parrot USA

Integration is simple with a vehicle specific harness from:
Parrot Kits and Quick Connect Harness Adapters

For mounting:
PanaVise Products, Inc.

My choice of holders:
Mobile iPod Docking Kit (Black) | Bracketron
(It holds the Evo "naked", or with a case)

To go from portrait to landscape at the flick of a wrist, add the swivel mount:
Ultra Slim Swivel | Bracketron

Hope this information helps those of us who like to integrate the awesome capabilities of this phone into an in-car solution. :)

I use a Parrot BT unit in my '00 Celica. I had no problem pairing the phone and works great. It even downloaded my entire contact list even though I wish it didn't.

2008 Cadillac CTS - pairs fine, but there are bugs. If I'm using the phone via BT and get another call, the phone will likely lock up (screen lock, no input) and I either have to pull the battery (tough while driving) or wait a few minutes for it to unlock on its own. The Caddy's phone integration has always been a bit buggy though...I used to have similar problems on my Palm Pre (for example, if I was on the phone and received another call, the Caddy would continue the phone ringing sound even after the second call was rejected). BT sound quality with Evo is good, but can be a bit scratchy at times.

Similar to what I am experiencing, except mine started with the Froyo update. Worked flawlessly before.

Works nicely with Mercedes 2010 S550 and 2010 E350
After the Froyo 2.2 update my 2010 E550 started having problems. It would say its connected to the phone but calls made on the phone would not come over the speakers. When I placed a call w/ the car's phone book it rang once over the car speakers then transferred to the EVO. Tried phone reboots and still had problem. Then I de-authorized the EVO from the car. I was able to get them to pair (after a few tries) but could not get them to authorize.

Anyone else seeing issues starting w/ BT after the 2.2. update?

Thanks!

2011 Mustang GT w/Electronics Package (Ford Sync)

Works very well with the EVO. Syncs the phonebook and call history with no problems. If you have music on the EVO, it will play them with no issues. Seamless. If you have pandora, grooveshark, etc.., it will play that music also.

07 Nissan Maxima. Works great. With Voicemail update now even the voicemails play through bluetooth. Would be great if they would update Google Navigation to do the same....

I have an '09 VW Jetta TDI with VOLK-L installed. I can send/receive calls perfectly, but have never been able to figure out how to stream music. The instructions say to just play the music and it should work, but it does not.

Yeah, I have a JVC KD-BT1 head unit with a similar problem. With 2.1 I was able to call and stream music through Bluetooth, but now that I have 2.2, the EVO only recognizes the head unit as a media player, and not a hands free system. So I can stream media, but whenever I make a call it doesn't go through Bluetooth, just on the EVO. No clue how to fix it yet.

I have a JVC Arsenal KD-A805 headunit w/ bluetooth. My Evo connects fine but voice dialing needs improvement, hopefully an update down the road. My phone book doesn't list contacts. When I receive a call I get there phone number. That's it. My wife has a Parrot CK3000 BT add-on, her Evo pairs but will not connect. The dealer called Parrot, well aware of problem and are working on a firmware.

I created my own thread but will add here. I have a VW CC with Bluetooth. The phone pairs fine and makes/receives calls fine.

When it comes to downloading the phonebook to the car entries are missing. It'll sync some but not all. Every iPhone and BlackBerry I've ever owned never had an issue, so I know I'm not hitting any limit with the car.

Then, once I go to dial, the call fails. I've determined that any number I dial from the car's phonebook with dashes in the number fails. Number appears as 123-456-7890 but the phone dials 123589, etc. It fails and I get the lovely Sprint recording. Manually dialing from the car without dashes works fine.

This is a big deal for me. I know it's not the module in the car because I've also confirmed this on the N1, Droid, Hero and now the EVO. I think 2.2 fixes it, but I don't have a N1 with 2.2 and don't really know how to try and shoehorn it on to my EVO.

Any ideas?

I have a lot (over 4000) contacts, and used to sync with a Blackberry. In order to get it to work, I had to choose only recently used contacts (that was an option on the blackberry sync). When syncing my Android Incredible, it does not bring down all of the contacts into my BMW 335. I cannot find a way to only download a portion of the contacts.

If anyone knows of a way, please let me know.

Does anyone have the Evo with a new Nissan Maxima with navigation? I was able to pair my Evo with it last night, but not sure if I can transfer the entire phonebook at once or if I need to do each individually.

Thanks!

2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe w/Premium stereo & NAV

Pros:

  • Easy setup
  • Connects virtually instantly
  • Entire phonebook available
  • Dialed/Received/Missed calls listed
  • Streams audio from Evo 4G*
  • Call quality is good

Con:

  • Streaming audio is scratchy or harsh.
  • Phonebook entrees listed last, first. I don't see an option to change.

I have no problem pairing my HTC Evo with my 2011 Camaro, it even loads phone book, etc. I made a few calls and then it diconnected. I try to get the phone to reconnect and what I see is paired but not connected on the phone. I unpaired my car and phone and re-did it and the same thing it will work for a few minutes, but always disconnects.

Any thoughts??

I have an HTC Inspire. My sound quality is really bad when I play rock songs. Can anyone help me with this?

Works perfect in my 07 Acura TL-S. Strange thing though, syching the phonebook with the Nav system not only sends my Phonebook contacts, but also my Facebook contacts. Annoying.

Mine did the same. I am having trouble getting the data connection though. I haven't played with it too much, but wonder if you were able to get data, for Pandora and possibly calander?

Works well with the Elantra integrated system. Pauses music for incoming calls. Streams A2DP, and Google Navigation audio via Bluetooth.

Have had some problems with Pandora, not resuming after incoming call.

Having a minor problem with A2DP streaming. The volume is very low. Tried both the handset volume control, and the car's volume and some audiobooks are too quiet to hear over interstate road noise.

If anyone has a solution, I'd appreciate it.

Wife, son and I all received 4gs. Paired flawlessley to 2010 Corvette, 2010 Nissan GTR, Camry Hybrid, and Kenwood 6140 (in my Ford F250 Van). All is awesome!

Have a few questions I hope you folks can help me with on my Mercedes GLK bluetooth Multi Media interface:

1) Is the only way to transfer the EVO's contacts over is via BlueTooth Transfer app or something similar?
2) Anyway to sync so that what's on my EVO = what's on the Merc's interface at any moment?
3) If my wife & I have both our BlueTooth EVO's in the car, which phone book shows up? (I think whomever was loaded)
