Accessories EVO car dock now available?

yes, aftermarket headunit that has usb and aux input. a pioneer model, actually.

you aren't referring to the options you get when connected via computer, are you?

I see.

No, I could've sworn there was a setting where you can set your phone not to charge when connected to a pc. Still searching. I'll let you know if I find it.

yeah
menu > settings > connect to a pc

mine is set to ask me, with default being charge only. but it doesn't really matter what this is set to since my phone won't even charge when plugged up to the dash unit. if i changed it to disc drive, it would do the same thing...nothing lol

No...I had a brain fart going back to my WinMO days. There was a setting in WinMO where you could prevent your phone from charging when it was plugged into the PC...LOL...Sorry for the confusion.

I used my EVO for directions the other day and used a gps holder that was alittle loose but worked. It suction cuped to the windshield. It started overheating from the sun coming through the glass. anybody else have that prob? I think I'll go for the air vent mount if it works.

not a dumb question at all. i actually should have been a little more clear with my post. each time i've connected my phone to my dash unit has been without the car dock, so just phone to cable to dash unit. originally this was intended to verify that the music played via usb, which it did before the 2.2 update. now i'm just hooking it up this way to see if it will even charge lol. and it's not. usb debugging disabled or enabled, same results. with a stock ROM it should've worked unless this was disabled in 2.2, hence why i was asking for someone else to test it out and see if their Evo on 2.2 (non-rooted) was doing the same thing :)

i suppose i could load a 2.1 ROM back onto my phone but i just don't wanna go through all the trouble when someone can just hook theirs up real quick

Ahhh.. Houston we have a problem..just plugged into my headunit with a cable only....I got audio, something else is going on.....

Well from what i have heard, there's a chance they might not carry it in the STORE at all,
only available online, but heres the catch you can only order it in the store, can't explain why, neither could the sprint rep i got the info from, but who knows, the way it seems with sprint, and the reps, and the stores these days they're all so screwed up who really knows. if it was not for the guys at the sullivan sprint store in spokane i don't think i would have the dock..hopefully someone would have figured it out at some store by now.

That's what I'm here for. If any of you have any questions about the car dock, or need one ordered, I'm closely monitoring this forum. Just shoot me an email. Tony.Harlan@Sprint.com

Got my dock in on Friday thanks to Tony. I LOVE IT. I am impressed with the build quality of it. It did take like 5 mins to figure out the dots thing but then after that its not a problem. My only complaint has nothing to do with the dock but with Froyo. I am pissed that after the Froyo update you can no longer listen to your music while you navigate. I hope they put out a fix for that soon.

Navigation voice over speakers?

I've noticed that the navigation voice only comes over the speakers of my car (connected by built-in bluetooth) when I'm in the middle of a call and navigating at the same time. I wish it would do this all the time.

Really? I've been able to listen to music and use Nav at the same time without any problems whatsoever.

In fact, I connect the phone to my stereo using the 3.5mm jack and the NAV voice speaks over the music.

Im in the same boat as some of you. As soon as i mount the phone, it mounts the sd card, making anything on it unuseable. Very frustrating. One thing to note is that the dock makes the phone think its being charged via usb, while just the car charger makes it charge in AC mode. I was told to call htc's accessory line, as their regular support had no information on the dock. Here's the number if anyone's interested:

Have to say though, the build quality is top notch. Excellent piece for an awesome phone. Ive tried a few different docks and this is by far my favorite, despite this little problem. Im sure itll get resolved one way or another. Either way, im happy with my purchase.

I had this same brain fart for a while, it's because you don't have bluetooth music enabled.... I have a SYNC car and I have to tell it bluetooth music or hit the AUX button. When not in a call the navigation voice is carried like a music signal, but doesn't activate the car's bluetooth.

Installed lots of 6000's that's a great deck, don't see why it wouldn't be the working.
have you tried a flash drive to verify the cd players working correctly?
What data cable are you using? Factory HTC?

yes, flash drive works. my cd player isn't broken. i play music via ipod nano through usb. only way to play music in a car imo.

there's too many inconsistencies between our phones. no matter. gonna shoot the second vid tomorrow finally. will either be up mid afternoon tomorrow or wednesday morning. just going to review it installed, talk about pros and cons and go over a few other things like the fact that the phone won't fit into the dock with any case. was surprised to find that my thin case wouldn't even work man. dock looks lose on the sides but it's definitely not.

Check to make sure debugging isn't checked, also if you have double twist istalled, make sure in settings it isn't set to auto mount usb, I had the same prob, after playin with my settings, I have full access to my card while docked.

Yeah I dunno. I've tried turning on and off the debugging option and this doesn't seem to have any sort of impact. I HAD doubletwist installed at one point, but I've since uninstalled it. Maybe theres a remaining file or setting goofing this up for me?

Also, I found that after I dock the evo (and the sd card is initially unmounted) if I unplug the power to the dock, it will remount the sd card. It even stays accessable if I plug the power back in. This tells me that it isn't a setting regarding how the dock is accessing the evo, but more how the evo is reacting to receiving power. This is probably some setting im missing somewhere.

<"Take note, no car charger or USB cable is included with this "kit" – they must be purchased separately.">
Agreed, I was kind of disappointed when I got mine and no charger was included - It should not be called a "Kit"

<"The phone’s rear camera is blocked by the dock (dock blocked, if you will)">
I've seen this complaint a few times on the thread and don't get the "complaint" - True, the dock blocks the camera, but when are you planing on using your camera when attached to a stationary dock in your car? If there was an opening in the dock to allow the camera to take pic, I can't think of when I'd ever use it....maybe I'm missing something...

<"The USB connector is not capable of data transfer (will not work with your car’s UBS stereo)">
True....the audio jack works fine though, but I guess it's be nice to have the one cord do both...

<"The SD card is inaccessible while the phone is docked (no SD apps, pictures, or music)">
Again, I've seen this complaint before in the thread, and I don't it. I have no issues accessing the SD card while on the dock including music and apps. Where is this coming from?

<"The "Car Home" app currently only displays in portrait mode">
Not an issue with the dock - but agreed the app is stupid and needs to be updated. For now I just turned off the setting to have it automatically go into car mode when on the dock.

Only one that I can really explain a need for is the camera blocking. Considering I'm a moderator on a car forum, there are many car meets that I've attended where this would've been great to be able to take shots of a caravan going to an event. Other than that, no big deal.

Answer for the Car Home App not being able to go into landscape is the Custom Car Home app in the market. Makes a world of difference for me and allows me quick access to my music player after I dock the phone. It's a great app!
